SX kit on PDS bike?

Has anyone on here done it? How difficult would it be to do? I know it has to do with the PDS offset and making the upper mounting point centered but just curious exactly what solutions people have rigged up to make it work?

With the shock not being in the centre it will bend the upper shock rod bracket on the sx kit as the shock rod comes in on a off set.

The standard kit can handle the off set as there are no moving parts.

Yes, understood. Can a bracket be fashioned to relocate the upper mounting point though?

I've head that 2moto has a adapter block that will work for the pds bikes. Don't know the details just heard it can make the pds bikes work on a SX kit.
Something to look into if your determined to ride your xcw on a SX kit.

xcw's are not the only ones with the PDS style. the XC version had PDS up until 2011. That my dilemma. I have the mx style mapping and ignition curve and MX suspension (front Forks) but I have the PDS still in the rear. Im really looking into the SX TS kit but would be bummed if it cant link up. I feel like the top mounting points are the same on the sub frame and the only difference is the bottom connection to where the PDS connects on to of the Swing arm and the Linkage just runs through it??? I don't know though I haven't really looked at a linkage setup for comparison of mine (2010 ktm 300XC)

Neither have I. I assumed it was the top that was the issue? Either way, this 2moto solution gives me hope...

2Moto has different upper shock mounts that adapt their Ohlins shock to different bikes. It is not a bolt-on solution to the question posed, but the concept could be.

Pro Moto Billet/Fastway Performance has a KTM 530 (PDS rear) with an SX kit mounted up. I hammered it down the trail last week in McCall, and it worked great.

They designed a custom strut rod to make it work.

Call Caleb at Fastway. He should be able to find out more info on it. They may have made other custom strut rods for re-sale.

Here's a shot of how the strut rod mounts to the linkage on the sx kit. The rod really needs to be in-line with the kit. If 2-Moto has a bracket to shift the mounting point over, it would probably work. You would just have to determine the correct length for the strut rod.

I imagine any type of spacer/block with just a longer bolt to allow the rod to be in line with the shock would work fine. I guess its just something I will have to try and fit up for myself and see how far off it really is.

I spoke with PMB today and I believe they will be doing a production run of the strut rods if enough of us are interested. I really want a SX on my 300sx

You should also call PMB - the more of us that appear interested the more likely they are to do a production run. Surprised TS doesn't get them to make a bunch and mark them up a bit. That's what I would be doing. Plus, it would allow them to sell kits worth $6500 to more people as opposed to the $5500 ST - more revenue!!!

Lets make this happen! PMB and TS are communicating about this option. Enough of us hassle them, and it will happen. If you build it, they will come! Hopefully not in their Klim bibs!

Anyone hear anything else about this? Sure would like to know if it will be possible prior to snow checking a kit.

I was just eying this up on my PDS bike. Think it would be possible to mod the TS frame to mount the stock shock to it? A new spring/re-valve would be necessary to work right.

Ugh. All this seems like such a hassle. I just wish TS made something to make this work. Seems like such a simple thing. Make it part if the fit kit package for that bike.

After finally getting to ride some deep last weekend, I am admitting defeat to my sx idea and excepting that I will never be happy unless I have a LT. Such a huge plus in the deep pow! The LT rides better than the St suspension wise in my opinion.

Rider weight plays a huge role as to what kit you can ride. That may change with next years kits - I'm excited to see what they have coming.
