swithcing from redline to polaris ves

so i am swithing up oils from redline to polaris ves gold. not for any performance reason, but because i got the sled with a warranty and it had redline in it. they wont warranty things if i am not running their oil.
SO the question is can i just drain it and fill or do i have to pull the oil line too? all i hear is dont mix oils. anyone just ran it close to empty and filled with the gold?
you know mixing issues.

running redline oil doesn't void your warranty... switching back to ves gold would be a mistake in my opinion. gold is the recommended oil by polaris because they can make more money if you buy their oil, i dont know any dealers that would not perform warranty on a sled because of redline oil.... they are both synthetics so you should be fine

Unless there has been a new trial they cant void your warranty on oil brand, only oil spec. You must run the spec required in their user manual but nothing more.

Dont remember the name of the lawsuit, but this one has been to court.

Anyone remember?

Found it:

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, 15 U.S.C. SS 2301-2312 (1982), and general principles of the Federal Trade Commission Act, a manufacturer may not require the use of any brand of part unless the manufacturer provides the item free of charge under the terms of the warranty.

Warranty advice above is spot on. I switched from Poo Gold to Redline and spoke with an engineer at Redline about mixing and he told me there is no need to siphone the gold out that it is ok to just start adding the redline.

Depending on your dealer....your area rep...the claims adjuster for that actual situation..BUYING A SLED can void your warranty! :becky:

Here's a thought...maybe you won't need the engine warranty if you run Redline Oil. I NEVER HAVE!

Now I'm only being slightly funny. In a more serious tone. Polaris while getting a pretty bad rap in certain circumstances is generally very fair on a case by case basis. Each and every warranty situation is a case by case decision handled by your dealer rep and the warranty claims department people. There is no cut and dried universal warranty that states here is your toy and irregardless of how you use it the thing will work for this amount of duration.

Yup, redlines a better oil as well...used it for years in everything...

Canadian Tire

Not sure about BC, but Canadian Tires sells Redline here in Alberta. Reasonable price IMO.

Which one is the one we wanna run in the sleds? The one that says racing on the bottle or the other one?

Ryan...more confused now than before? :) I can't speak to the warranty issue as I don't have one. Perhaps you could call a local Polaris shop and ask them what they would do or how they would handle it?

Just a thought...

ps. How much are you jonesing to take out your new sled? I practically start mine every day just to smell the exhaust :)

a good REVIEW on oils from "the chemist" on HCS

seems pricey tho....????
Im sure you would be fine dumping it in on top of the ves
I have heard SOME oils will gel when mixed
for what its worth, I have always siphoned (sp?) out as much as possible first

I heard from a friend of mine that is a pretty knowledgeable person in the world of powersports (just ask him he'll tell ya) and he was trying to tell me that MOBIL OIL COMPANY makes all the Polaris oil for Polaris? Any truth to that or is he just blowing smoke? And if they do not make it, who does?

it says right on the redline website that the racing version works with pre mix or oil injection systems.
SLP says the racing stuff is way better also.

Have run both the snowmobile and race in injection systems for years.....seems like the snowmobile version pours alittle easier at real cold temps.....I don't know if the snowmobile bottles say it but on the 16 oz. race stuff it says specifically not to break and engine in on it. Use the redline.

It has been mentioned here before but Polaris oil is made by lubtech in MN...see attached link
