switching garret 2554 to garret 28rs

2004 rx1 m10 w 162'' camo , powderlites kit ,moving on up, g2554 to g28rs w 86 housing, do i need to change clutching or jetting , currently head shim , what boost are you guys running on pump premium ,any recommendations thanks

I've always been told anything over 10 lbs of boost and a guy should be running straight race gas. It's hard to get good answers here. So much b.s. on the web. My best input has been through Boondockers(Kyle) I know there are plenty of guys who know their chit on this site, just hard to get responses. Hope this helps you out!

i know one of the turbo kit builders and he is running 16 pounds on premium, vector motor no issues g 28 on personal sled. i was more concerned on how much more weight to clutch and what jet size on richness for g 28rs,thanks

I know with my Alpine I have to run 50/50or avgas after 12psi all the way up to 15psi.Any thing after that it's straight race fuel.As for the clutching ,if you turn up the boost more than what you are set at :beer;now, you will need more weight and jetting I don't think it will change cause all you are doing is going to the bigger turbo and the more you turn up the boost the more pressure you will have on your float bowls and will increase fuel.

i run a garret 28 on my nytro. i started off at 12 lbs on 50/50. my clutching was really set up for 15lbs and when i bumped the boost...everything came together. i went to straight race for this since i do not have a head shim yet.

either way you go...a little race gas is fairly cheap insurance for keeping things cool in the motor.

couldn't believe the difference between 12 and 15 lbs.

100% avgas has been good for me up to 17 psi with a thick headgasket equivalent of 3 stacked . I have another sled that I have run for 4 years at 15 psi and 2 headgaskets.I've always used straight av. The sled I have now has been run for 4 half mile runs at w.o.t. at 20 psi ,but it has low comp pistons and a stacked headgasket .

If you don't have them already I would get 127.5 mains. Seems to be the happy jet for a 2860. Other then that you might have to throw a little more weight at it.
