Bought my 2013 pro rmk 163 this year but I'm thinking of next season. So I'm thinking of a ditch banger crossover for riding at home. I'm thinking of a switchback pro r but I never see anyone post anything on these machines. The one thing that's holding me back is the goofy rear susp. Looks like it should work well in theory but does it ? We ride open fields, some lakes and trails, some ditches. I would really appreciate some feed back on this model as I'm planning to sno-check something for 2014. Thanks

It's an awesome riding sled. I have an 2012 800 turboed. It's so much fun. I have about 1200 turboed miles and very happy .

I have a few other sleds and this is by far polarizes best riding and handling sled to date

That sounds positive, what kind of turbo and how many pounds of boost are you running at ft Mac. Are you using any race fuel?

These are really fun to ride. Easy ride set up with clickers all around and very stable at higher speeds. Cornering is good and they come off bumps great and stay stable on landing. I put a 1.75 comp track on mine for more off trail bite. That made a big difference. I have not had it in the mnts but would not hesitate using it as a spare.

It's a silber turbo with a boost -it fuel controller and head from RKT. I'm running 6psi on pump gas . It's a perfect set up.

I have a 13 pro 155, came off an Switchback assault. Dad rides the switchback Pro R Switchback and mom the Rush.

The honest truth from what I have seen in my seat time breaks Down Like this

155- easily the best handling in the real snow, ok trail manners soft suspension for ditch banging and field riding, slowest top end, best stock power
144- a good compromise between trail handling and deep snow abilities, not the best at either, but a solid second place. With the right track still a ton of fun in the deep. Will handle ditches at 80mph all day long and stand up to
136-I seem to think its the best handing on trail, even over the 121 rush, could be just minor suspension setup tho, and yes setup is that important on these. Good and fast, takes a beating and asks for more. Lacks the deep snow abilities of the longer tracks. Feels heavy in the front end in powder
121-all the same as the 136 but less deep snow capability, also this is 600 and the rest are all 800

And just to clarify what exactly those sleds were
13 155 pro- 645 miles of seat time
12 switchback pro r (dads) ~200 miles seal time
11/12 switchback assaults ~ 2200 miles seat time
10 600 rush- (moms) ~150 miles seat time

By the way where is back home. Sounds famiar to home for me.

If it is, I'd go for the assault, as you can use it at home with out worry, and if something happens or you need a second sled in the mountains, it will still be of some use

Home for me is an hour north east of Edmonton. We live on a farm near a little town called Smoky Lake. I used to get to the mountains half a dozen times a year but now my son has been playing hockey and I help coach, so it's been 4 years since I've been there. So now it's time to introduce the kids to the mountains. They ride 2 2012 600 rmk pro 155, bought them late last spring. I also have a 2009 assault that my wife rides that I will be selling shortly. I find the assaults ride fairly harsh especially for my wife. So I want something that she and I can ride at home. I like the idea that if she is on it , I can just clicker it down and then clicker it back up when I need. This sled would most likely never get ridden in the hills but would be there as a spare. Thanks for all The opinions, it's making my decision easier. It will be interesting to see the 14 line up!!!!!

Ok well knowing that you have other deep snow sleds changes things. I'd go with the 136 then. You will no be disappointed by the handling. Most stable platform I've ever seen

I have a '13 SBA and a '12 Switchback Pro-r. Without the mountains in mind, the pro-r is the superior machine, to anything on the trail. If you want to use for both then SBA. The SBA handles the trail nicely just not as good as the pro-r.

Which sled ?..

Ride what you are comfortable with 92.5% of the time ! (Rent ) your 5% , Sled , cheaper ? Over time , I think you wear wool in the winter time ! Shorts in summer! Too my point one size does not Fit All ! 2.5% always looking for perfect Sled !

bought my wife a 12 switchback adventure in oct., she was pissed i sold her 04
switchback 700 144, now after about 100 miles her attitude is changing fast, alot nicer ride, more stable and nice power. I rode it alittle this weekend in 1 1/2
powder and was impressed and the 600 power surprised me and i go 265lbs. geared up.

2011 switchback assault

Mine was purchased early december from Rexberg Motorsports It was thier foto shoot model Has the spring only with 2" track This sled will go anywhere my friends sleds go and they all have mountian sleds Go to you tube see 2011switchback assault reviews watch the one with the orange maddness color AJ Lester Very Informative Made up my mind. And i do love the sled and i live in Montana

800 ProR Switchback by far superior ride on trail. Don't have a lot of miles on mine for lack of snow, but when comparing against 800 pro rmk night and day diff. on choppy trails. They work fine in spring riding conditions, but as said before little heavey in soft powder. Bought 600 switch. for my wife and she loves it!
NDRMK

switchback 800 PRO-R LE

I ride in Fort Mac, and love the switchback, got it with the 1.75 track and it works very well. Just set up the suspension for your weight as per manual and the ride is very good. In 2 ft of powder it jumps right on top and hovers the skis on top of the snow. Breaking trail is effortless, a couple of times I thought I would be buried but it just jumps up and goes.
