Switchback Assault track ?'s

I friend of mine wants to put a 144 x 2.? on his 12 Switchback Assault for going west, we are just wondering what everyone is running and are you happy with the track performance you are running? We know a 144 x 2 off of a older RMK will work, just want the best track possible.

Right now he is looking at a Challenger 146 x 2.5, we know we may have to change drivers or drive shafts, he wants to keep this as simple as possible for converting back to flatland running but have good deep snow performance, if possible.

Just wondering what everyone is using, Thanks

I'd look for a series 5 or a backcountry. If you are spending money on drivers and such might as well just spend it on a direct bolt on track.

Somewhere I have posted a few threads on comparing the 1.35 cobra to a 1.75 backcountry as well as the polaris 2.25"

Included in a few of these threads was gearing as clutching to go with the tracks

Hopefuly your stock track isn't studded, if so the tunnel guards will have to be removed (fuel tank removal). I find it funny that some are retracking with deep lugged tracks, while others like me are retracking to small block tracks. And only for short specific periods of time. Kinda wonder if we should start a system where my 2" track could be swapped with you in return for your small block track, which I will stud. Then at the end of February, we swap back. Otherwise expensive tracks are just hanging out. Now if a quick install tunnel protection system could be invented. 550iq

I had the 2012 SBA with 2" track from factory. I had it in the mountains and it went everywhere I wanted to go, just wouldn't highmark with the true mountain sleds and sometimes got stuck where others wouldn't get stuck (though this was mostly rider error). I'd say just get the 144x2" Polaris track, change the gearing, and go ride the steep and deep.
