Switchback Assault Bog

I am expriencing a problem with a bog or loss of power with my assault close to the top end. It seems to happen when the motor is having to work hard thru snow. It has crisp throttle response but the odd time when running 2/3 throttle and cracking it, there is a very noticeable bog or power loss? Is anyone else experiencing this? Wondering if it is leaning out as oil consumption is very low. Have 200 miles on sled.

Ya! Had that today, anything over 1/2 throttle it would bog let off good again till 1/2 again then same thing. Will try new plugs tomorrow. Maybe the darn things are fouled .

I don't know with trail riding but my PRO is spot on. But I don't ride it at 1/2 and 2/3 throttle and try to make it **** up.. I ride it like It's supost to be rode. HARD.. So ride it like a MAN and shut the **** up... I smell BS in this thread.. I also have over 200 miles on my PRO...

pretty normal during the first 3-5 hrs..make sure if you are running premium non ethanol fuel that you have the non ethanol plug plugged into the harness..and vice versa if you are running ethanol fuel to have the ethanol plug...
low oil consumption is normal on the new cfi-2 motor..mine has burned about 1 cup in just over 100 miles.....also if you have oil in the fuel still it will cause issues as well..fresh plugs might also help(even though it sounds ok)

For starters clown, I am not in the mountains and secondly,I am a former 6 year snowcross racer!I don't trail ride as it is all cross country and it is riden hard which is where I am having the issues like I said on the top end. To be honest, I would like to ride with you sometime and you can be the judge on if I ride this sled hard enough or the way it should be joker

i had a problem with my ecm wiring harness coming apart, we checked my buddies and when we pulled on it, it came right apart. have posted this before with peeps having missing issues and when checked thiers came right apart also. it is the wide connector right behind the oil res. bottle, would be worth a check...

Can you run the non ethanol/premium plug with AK 90 octane? I know the new cat 800 calls for 91 octane and people are having no issues with running our premium fuel.

I have two trips on mine with pump premium and the non ethanol chip..sled has run excellent....even the dragon 8 when new in 08 ran great on pump premium with the wires in the non ethanol position...

Thanks!! I'll have to switch em when i get home. That along with some new plugs should wake her up a little (not that it needs it). Got one day on her is all and I do not miss my M at all.

they are an amazing sled huh?....very impressed on how good they perform for being down 20 hp....

did you break your belt in properly or just goose it from the get go? I did the latter on my crossfire a couple years ago. Drove myself nuts chasing the problem, checking plugs, draining fuel, changed the can back to stock, checking spark, pulled the head.........then one day it was pretty warm out so I pulled my side panel off to see how warm my clutches were. They were burning hot, looked at the belt and it was shinier than the hood. If that baby's glazed it will cause that boggy-burble at WOT. Changed it out for a new belt and it ran like a champ. Check out your belt, clean your clutches.

I have noticed a bog on mine also. Mine has been when you nail it right out the hole. I found that mine was over-revving to 8500-8600rpms which I am guessing the ecu is cutting fuel to make it not over-rev. I since have put 10-68 grams weights and still get a little over-revving(hitting 8400-8500 intial and tapers to 8300rpm), but it does not cut or bog anymore. I am next going to put a more aggressive angle helix(60-42/.36) with a black/purple spring in the sec. and see if I can load the motor more. The stock sec. clutch set up is 56-42/.36 with a black spring.

It really is an amazing sled. Polaris nailed it with this one.

Please post the clutching results when you get it figured out. Mine never missed a beat once I was doing some climbing, and it only bogged once (wrote it off as oil in the fuel and probably close to fouled plugs) but I did notice on a hard off the line pull she would hit 8500 on the flats back to the truck...

Had the same thing (sort of) happening to my assault, when letting off then hammering on it it would sound like it was loading up and then clean up and go. I put 2 Delrin washers in under the spring retention cup in the secondary and have yet to have a problem since.

Something worth trying before taking it to the dealer

Same thing is happening with mine...right around 5-6k rpm when you hammer on it bogs but not all the time. Happened ever since I got it and assume it may have been the xtra oil in tank fouling plugs. Ran that tank out, filled with 94 octane, changed resistor and plugs..got better but still does it occationally. 12.5 hrs on it now and just dropped off at dealer to look at. Should be out on Friday and will let you know if they come back with anything. Sled is deadly though..love it!!

same has been happening to mine .. changed plugs and it helped for a while .. but still dose it ..7hrs on mine so far..planning on bringing it back to the dealer to have them look at it if it dosnt stop soon
