swapping a 2000 xc700 motor into a '01 xc800

I'm trying to get my xc800 going again and came across a good deal on this 2000 xc700 motor, so I have some questions,
I assume motor plate off the 800
can I use the y pipe from the 8 on the 7? I don't have the 7's y pipe.
I want to use the carbs and cdi from the 8, do I need to change out the electronics under the flywheel?
What about jetting and timing? I assume that timing shouldn't be an issue and I was planning on jetting for a '01 700, sound like a good starting point?

thanks for any help, I want to get an 800 back in it eventually, I just want to get it going for now and that is why I picked up the 7.

bump,,,,
I have the 700 mostly together, a few things I really need to figure out.
the thermostat outlet on the 700 is straight back, the 800 is off to the side, so I assume I can buy a "edge" 700 head to get the stat housing correct, (bolt holes different so I need the head and the cover)
the stator wiring has different ends than my 800 so I will have to change over that as well. if anybody has any advice I'd appreciate it.
