swap meet prices

i may be missing something, but i have been looking around swap meet quite a bit and i am wondering why people dont just put a price on the listing? 4 or 5 people will ask for a price and they say.... pm sent with the price.

can someone help me out on explaining this please:confused:

Well think about it.
If the guy was trying to sell it for a fair or cheap price to get rid of it fast he would post a price.

If he was thinking his sled was worth more than it actually is because he put a summer sucks decal and a boss seat on it he's got to get you to call him or write to him to get you involved with the sled so he can quickly tell you all the reasons why you should give him more money than the sled is really worth thereby suckering you in.

If you saw what he was asking for it up front and it is well over what you would ever give him (or anyone) for that sled then he'll never get the chance to explain to you why his sled is worth more than it really is.

I NEVER respond to an ad that has no price because I always assume the seller wants more than he paid for it because of sentimental reasons or because it has a trunk bag and a hot dogger as mods.

Why else wouldn't he post a low price....Too many responses or phone calls?
Yeah...I'd hate that if I was trying to sell a sled.

That's funny stuff right there!!! I can't agree with you anymore!! LOL

Geez, I'm even worse than you guys. I don't even get the "OBO" thing. I wonder when an ad reads "$3500 OBO", how many buyers call and say "I guess I'll just give ya the $3500".

I never write OBO and the first 10 responses I get are for lesser offers. I say post your best price and if it doesn't sell in a while lower it. I always have a list of lesser offers if I get hungry.

Like mentioned above, I never follow up on a no selling price post either. Rant over. EW

It's really simple, put down your price, put down where you are, add pic's,
list extras, delivery options, and payment options.

How hard is it?

I don't even look if it doesn't have a price or location.

this is funny, I have always wondered why if someone is selling some highdollar part like a complete skid or boss seat or a sled whether mod of not and say its in great shape so many miles a big list of all thats been done to it etc..etc.. an when you open the thread theres NO pics posted, are we suposed to magicly see the sled of part, ok checks on its way.. of all the pic threads on here it would be nice to actually see what is advertised from the start.

KARMA will most times fix this!
If it is over priced it won't sell. If it is not marketed right it won't sell. It's easy to pick them out of the swap meet.

I'll usually ask...... if I dont buy it, I'll post the price in the ad for them... cause I'm a nice guy

Agreed with what was said above with the exception of dealers who sometimes can advertise the lowest price. but you should never have to ask for pic's price or location that's just unnecessary work that should have already been provided by seller

Bingo! I get irritated when there isn't a price too and don't respond.

.

The ones I love are the guys that put the retail of the part when they bought it and just add that to the price of the sled/engine/whatever. Here's a tip: if you bought a new head or a new skid in 2005 and then rode it for 3 yrs and now you want retail "reimbursement" equal to what you paid off the shelf - It ain't gonna happen...ever!
