Suspension ( where to start )

Where does everyone have there fork height at ? Is it the same as a dirt bike higher in the clamp turns better less stable , higher more stable doesn't turn ?

In the skid adding removing preload in the front and rear springs do ?

Also it's on 2013 KTM 450sxf with a 120LE kit I have the adjustable strut where is the best place to have it set ,

Manual didn't have the best answers

Soft snow trenching

This thread surprisingly has not had any hits. I have been having trouble with my kit not wanting to climb up on the snow. Trail handling is very good, weight transfer feels good, and feels light on the ski. But it only wants to trench in the deep (more than 18" of soft snow). What or where should I start with adjustments.

Forks? High or low in clamps
Limiter strap? Longer or shorter
Front shock? Stiffer or softer
Rear shock? Stiffer or softer

Suspension set-up varies with snow conditions.

I've found that I like to keep the front of the bike as high as possible, I have RG3 snowbike valving with .64 springs and slide the forks down in the clamps until the caps are flush.

I the back (I have a ST-LE) I change the suspension depending on conditions. Hard snow or bumpy trail I set the front shock to hard, rear to medium.

Mixture of everything with 18" or less of powder it's medium/medium.

Powder days it's soft/soft.

The dial on your qs3-r shocks makes a huge difference, I suggest playing with it and finding what works for you. No need to adjust preload on those shocks.
