When I hear these words it usually gives me a icky feeling in my gut, but this picture (taken in Revelstoke this week) is one I might frame!

seen lots of that around the southeastern rockies on Alberta/BC border, be careful after the next snowfall!

When its big like that its actually fun to ski. A person can hear it tinkling down the slope! Its huge in the Fernie/Elkford area as well and now it is buried beneath some fresn snow! Gone make this next dump interesting!

We had a cold snap in early December in the Anchorage area with lots of the same surface hoar. Then we got a few inches of snow, then it warmed up. I have no idea how that's going to work out after the next big snow but I'm going to be wary of avalanche, for sure.

It is pretty stuff though. Love when it coats all the trees and makes them look like they're made of crystal.

Nice picture Brandy, the frost crystals were truly beautiful, ...this frost layer is now getting buried under this current dump of snow, ..lets be sure to play safely until it bonds.

It was great meeting up with you and Brent the other day, we all hope that you have a safe trip home, and a Happy New Year!!

Sweet pics all :D :beer;

Also remember that this is very beautiful to see on the surface...but also this beautiful thing is a killer when it's buried :) Ride safe and enjoy these great pics of one of the most beautiful thing mother nature can create.

That's why it's our job to go around and crunch every one of those hoar's with our sleds. Keeps everyone safe in the backcountry. :beer;
