Have you guys heard about our new product Surefoot? Its an silicone based epoxy. The chemistry of silicone makes it repel any water, therefor can not form any ice build up, and the epoxy creates a durable finish. We are selling a running board coat, which is just enough to do you running boards and up the side of your tunnel 2 inches to keep away any bridging effect.
We are also selling a tunnel coating kit that includes enough to coat the inside and outside of your stock tunnel. This will keep any ice from building up and creating excess riding weight on the underside of your tunnel.
Soon to come will be a buff in coating for all your plastics and powdercoated parts as well.
The running board coating and tunnel coating are best applied with an automotive hopper feed spray gun, and will dry and cure in ambiant temperatures. Non toxic and water soluable.
Thanyou and check us out at www.betweenthelinesdesigns.com

I'll be coming over there to do mine when I get the 860 running. I'd love this on the front end to keep the arms from packing with snow. And on the other sleds... :face-icon-small-hap

Is there a guarantee that comes with this as far as doing what is claimed? What is an automotive hopper feed spray gun and does that mean that I would have to pay someone to apply this? Thanks

My question is if the coating makes the running boards slippery? If that is part of what keeps the snow off, it will keep me off also.

Saw this in SLP's new catalog. Perhaps they've got some experience with it? Seems like it would be awesome. I'd love to coat several items, including skid rails and under tunnel and a-arms. Durability guys??

I just applied this (well had a freind do it) to the inside of my tunnel and the aluminum module behind the a-arms on my XP. I wished I would've used a little bigger nozzle than the finish coat nozzle. I should've used the one for like sandable primers. It is kinda thick stuff. I bought two bottles from Grip N Rip, (each bottle was supposed to do one set of running boards) and I only used 3/4 of one bottle. It came out of the gun really thin and we had to continue to re-coat over and over, and in the end I would've liked to have seen it about twice as thick of a coating as we ended up with (like two bottles would've been about right). Even still, it is slippery as snot, and I would be afraid to put this on any running boards unless you had hella cleats or added some traction screws or something. I ordered the black and it comes out grey and dries almost black, but there is still a shade of grey there. It scratches quite easily until cured, but seems fairly durable afterwards. I haven't had it on the snow yet, so time will tell.

I'm just pissed at myself for not making sure my guy had it thick enough in one area before moving onto the next area (we had less than ideal lighting conditions, and it did look pretty good until we put a flashlight to it in our tent) and by the time we realized it it was too late to re-coat. Like I said it feels just as slippery as the spots that got coated thicker, except that you can see where it is a little thin. It sucks for me that I spent the time masking and prepping, only to have a finished product that could've been much better with very little extra effort, and it just makes me mad at myself. We shall see how it holds up. Pictures to follow soon...

We'll see how it holds up this winter, and maybe next summer I'll strip it down, rough it all up real good, and try another coat.

Sorry guys, been out for a few days. This stuff in durable, it is used on the bows of ice breaking ship hulls, That should point out its durability and its iceaphobic properties. This stuff is slick on the running boards, but if you have any tracktion cleets it is good enough to keep your boots on it.

You will halfto buy two kits for a full tunnel, inside and out, and running boards.
We use a 1.4 primer tip in our gun, and its just a cheepo gun from harbor freight. $18.00. You can also dilute it up to 10 percent for a real fine coat through a smaller tip.

I will try to answer all your questions. call us or PM me works too.

Could you post a link/s regarding this product being used on ships? I'd like to read how they came about using this product. That sounds interesting.
