Sun Valley, Fairfield...and Smiley Creek

Up toward the Stanley/Smiley Creek area they are pretty good (especially for this time of year). I am headed up this weekend to the parents (Clayton) to play around so I'll know more here in a week or so.

So far this site has been pretty quiet from the regulars that visit these areas most frequently although willy said he was going up to the Stanley/White Cloudsthis this last weekend, but has not reported back.

I think you'll find plenty of snow @ all the places your inquiring about. So far it's been a pretty good year for snow, just wish I was enjoying it. On my first ride out this year I flipped my sled over on top of me and broke my left hand ring finger so I'm sitting on the bench for the next 6-8 weeks. It's been a real ****in BUMMER!!! :mad2:

Yeah, this year is not the year to get banged up and have to sit out. Although I am not going to laugh at you because this weekend will be my first ride.

Broken finger? tape it and ride!
You don't need that finger to ride.

Rick

Not easy to grip the bars with a finger that won't bend. I really did a # on this finger, so bad that I now have a titanium screw holding the piece of bone that broke off from the upper joint. I also tore all the soft tissue that held the joint together. After I had my surgery they had me in a soft cast halfway up to my elbow. Went back 4 days later to get a splint made up and they had to make it with 55 degree bend to keep my finger from dislocating again. Went back in Tuesday and they let the splint out to a 30 degree this time.

After my surgery and getting the speech from the doc, my wife has hidden the tether to my sled. :face-icon-small-fro

Anyone planning to ride much this year?

Of course. Starting off pretty good so far. Vienna has about a foot and a half, although my stoping grounds are only up to about 6" right now. I still have some deer to kill, so I am not quite in the swing yet.

However, the good news is there is a pretty good chance for snow most of this week in Stanley.

You going to make it out this year?

I REALLY hope so.

I love riding down there. Been back about 4 times since I left in summer of 2000.
