Summit Sport 800R Ptek

Hi All,
I have always owned Arctic Cat and am looking at a 2013 Summit Sport 800 154. Can anyone tell me more about this sled? Its Carb, does that matter at elevation (havent ever owned a carbed sled)? I usually ride from 3-7K in washington. How does the 154 do in deep powder compared to the 163? We get hammered with wet northwest powder. Anyone know what these are selling for now out the door? My dealer offered me a sweet deal and will even trade my old sled in.

Cheers
Cole

They are great sleds for the money. I live in Central Washington and ride similiar elevations and have never had problems with my carbed xp. The 154 is the best all around track for this sled IMO. Boondocking is effortless but it's still enough to get you around in the deep stuff. Pull the rope and ride it. If you really want to get frisky call RoosterBuilt and let him work his magic.

2014 xp with ptech for around 8 grand? Least that what the wewb site says. tough to buy a used sled anymore

The 800 is more like 9 g's but still a great value. The '14 has not only the 36 front but T-motion rear. Only available in 154. I'm getting one.

Ya I am thinking about it too... Need a spare, and seems like a great deal

xp

i have never owned a 800r p tek but this year i almost bought one in 154. i was gonna put a tmotion in it and really wanted a 163. so i kept shopping and i ended up buying a 12 etec 800 163 and put the t motion under it even during the break in period the power was good and fuel consumption was very good have rode with several m 8s and there dumping in fuel and almost out of fuel.after dumping in there spare fuel cans . when im at a half tank and now its broke in very little oil used i would look for a 12 etec hold over if you want a good deal and dont mind the xp chassis . i have rode with some ptecs and they have good power but they burn more fuel 5 gallons more fuel and more oil is easy 25 dollars a day more to ride . and i was always a carb guy becuase i dont need a scan tool to work on a carb sled i know laramie wy high country motorsports still had a couple 12 etecs at a good price last week . i will say the ptec xp is a very good buy for a new sled in a 13 or a 14 .the ptec has proven it self as very reliable power so make your best deal and have fun

have a great day dan

xp ptec

also forgot to say that the skidoo summit has had a dpm or somthing like it to adjust the carbs for elevation and tempature since 98 and i have never had any issue with the dpm doing what is suposed to do to the jetting on theese sleds so they work very well and are reliable

thanks dan

My 2011 Summit SP p-tek, electric start, t-motion added, has proven to be a great reliable sled, and is a joy to ride once the suspension is dialed in for your weight and riding style. Several of my riding partners have the e-tek and it is truly a wonderful motor, less smoke and a little bit better fuel consumption but not much better. If a p-tek is using a lot more fuel than an e-tek it needs to be rejetted for your altitude.

Highly recommend the electric start, you will be amazed how much energy that saves you in a day of hard riding.

Mechanic at my dealer told me not to get the ptek, said I'd make up the difference in cost on fuel and oil also said etek was 15 hp more. I told him it may take a while to make up the $3500. on gas and oil and I haven't seen an etek walk away from my ptek yet....asked why they pull exactly the same pin weights too. Bottom line is for me 3-4grand does make a big difference to some it doesn't and I would say in that case for sure get an XM.
