No it's not 2004, camera sucks too.

Okay who has used the secondary clutch tool to R&R their belt. Am i the only one or do others think the tool provided by BRP kinda sucks. It has two pins that easily slip out of the plastic holes and can strip out the holes. In addition I thought it should be designed so the supplied socket could still fit with the tool in place. I have come up with my own upgrade for this... The locking nut down the centre is actually a NPT pipe reducing bushing from 3/8" to 1/8" NPT. The way it work is the taper spreads the palstic apart when tightened to bind the plastic adjuster in the clutch. The internal threads are not used normally, but I used them. First I tightened a brass 1/8" NPT pipe plug in that had a 7/16" hex head. I already had an old BRP 10mm socket so I ground down the brass head to fit the 10mm. I then took a 3/4" NPT male pipe tap and threaded the large hole in the plastic adjuster. The threads weren't cut as deep as i would like but they worked. Next I took a PVC 3/4" 1/2" NPT reducing bushing and ground down the hex head to fit the large BRP socket and the hex end of that same dump pin wrench. I tightened the bushing into the adjuster with loctite red now all is good. I can use the large socket for clutch adjustments and with the hex end of the pin wrench in place I can easily tighten the lock nut with my ten mm socket. In the pics, the orange piece is just a push in pipe cap to give it a finished look. I guess you need to be a plumber to work on these new sleds?

I have more pics to come.

Great idea. I agree the tool sucks and keeps popping out. I am not smart enough to understand all you did, and not handy enough to do it without screwin it all up. But, since you have had it all apart, would a guy be able to just drill those holes a bit deeper? Allowing that tool to fit better. IF so, how much do you think? If not, why?

Thanks for any help.

Drilling the holes deeper was my first idea but it looks like if they are much deeper, you would be drilling into the collar bushing that is supposed to be free to spin when adjusting the clutch. Don't be afraid to spin this thing right out to take a look at it, is pretty simple.

That is what I did also cut the prongs down so you can hold it flat on the adjuster, about 3/8 long, works good now

Thanks for the info. This is my first Doo I thought to myself I must be using the tool wrong because this thing will be stripped in no time.

Why would BRP make this tool with different lengths prongs anyways??? If there is no logical answer I will be cutting mine down to the same length also.
