Summit Grip Removal

I am replacing my bars and need help pulling the stock grips off. They are really on there. Tools, Solvents, Lubes. Whats the trick?

well the warmers dont work so box knife and an airplane highjacker to widdle them off.

Can you get an air chuck under an end? Blows them up like a balloon!

What year Summit? Prior to 07 the grips had the heating elements built into the grips. You could heat those up with the heat gun and get them to slide off.

heat gun or air are both good options

take 7/8 open end wrench and slide on the bar in front of the grip. tap with a hammer and they come right off.

A little heat a sharp flat head screw driver and some WD40.

Now how do I get em to stay put on the new bars. Is there some kind of glue that wont be effected by the heat. Any tips?

grips

You can use 3m spray glue or put a tiny bit of gas in for lube and they slide on and stay on.

clear spray paint, gf's hair spray, whatever for grip glues, spray them and push them on FAST!!!

My 12 year old kid took mine off after I told him to use the air compressor to blow in the open hole in the end. They expand and slip right off. The bar is solid so you don't even have to plug off the other side of the bar.

This works for re-installing too!
