Summit 800 spark plug caps

My son's 02 summit 800 highmark keeps melting the tops of the spark plug caps on the outside.? Anyone else have this problem or know what causes it? Sled is stock.

Probably the cap tips are shortingn out inside... they coil around the spark plug tip can crack off and then arc to the remainder of the wire, change the wires with NGK race wires, be careful at the coil end with the little plastic clip

Also check the clearance to the hood as they may also be rubbing a little,

if you look at the cab inside you will see it is rubbing on the spark plug cap tops . grind out an area and it will stop rubbing the caps thru

Are you talking about the foam? that seems to be the only thing above the caps. I just put some new caps and plugs on and it is still happening, so it is probably rubbing something.
