Summerize my sled

I hate to be the first one of the year to ask this question.......

What are the steps to properly summerize a sled?

I grease all the fittings, replace chaincase fluid, and stabilize the fuel. You are supposed to fog the motor, put in new plugs and I pull the powervalves to clean them. It is also very important now to also put a new fuel filter on, I would personally wait until fall to do that.

I also clean the sled really good inside and out, loosen track tension, loosen suspension springs , remove both clutches and clean them, check sled over completely, fill oil tank to the top, change oil filter(inline filter on polaris), I make a list of everything on the sled I want to address before riding it again(loose tie rod ends, new carbides, what ever needs worked on before riding it)and I put the list in one of the bags so in late summer/early fall when I get to looking at them for the season I know what needs to be looked at/fixed before riding...

I was recommended by a friend to run some race gas through it before summerizing it. He said the alcohol in pump gas can clog/mess up the injectors after sitting for awhile. I never had this issue before but he is a boat mechanic and replaces injectors daily on customers 2 stroke outboards. I do hear of guys having injector issues on their Polaris but I think it is a separate issue.

Jb, use seafoam injector cleaner..nothing better for cleaning/maintaining a fuel system..I run it thru all my sleds a few times during the season, as well as on my vehicles several times a year..only fuel cleaner I have ever seen work..and it works good..

I would add remove belt and hang over bars. I hang the sled in the back so no weight on track. If you park outside Block the outlet pipe .And if outside make sure you get airflow around sled dont trap moister under tarp. At the min always pull the drain on carb to clear float bowl.
( complete carb cleaning is best but if your not wanting to do draining helps alot)

DONT GIVE UP.. be strong there is still snow somewhere.. dont make summer any longer than it has to be.

X2! There is still some snow to be had... its not what it should be for March, but there is still some there.:rant::D

I've heard about "fogging" the motor for the summer.
Can someone explain?
Also, is it better to store with a topped off fuel tank or drain it out?

I think it is fogging it over with WD-40 on the engine and metal parts. I thought that was some redneck thing we did here in Maine.
