Summer Project - Advice Needed

Well it's only July and I've already got the itch and need to turn some wrenches.

I've got an M6 that could use more power so I'm looking at dropping in a stock 7 or 800 motor. What are the major issues I'm facing? From the initial research I've done it looks like a direct bolt on as the 6 has the same bottom end. Like to re-use as much from my 600 as possible (ECU, clutches etc.).

-ECU - reflash?
-Clutching?
-Diamond Drive - likely can stay the same
-Throttle bodies?

I also don't necessarily have my heart set on going this route, are there any other good alternatives like a big bore kit? From what I've seen it costs more for a big bore kit than a used motor with low miles. Reliability with minimal tuning is important.

Thanks for any input.

The 800 engine will NOT just drop right in.. It will require some fab works.. The best bet is to get some 700 cylinders and exhaust valves and make it a 700 OR get the same 700 parts, then big bore it to an 800 (these kits make more power than the 800 by a long shot)

The M6 ECU has a better timing curve and will make for a very strong 700 or 800.. No need to change it or the throttle bodies..

Is it as simple as swapping to 700 jugs, pistons, and exhaust valves?

Yes, but remember, you will also have to modify the head for the larger bore..

AND.. SOME M6's require a Boondocker Box when taken to a 700.. This largely dependent on your fuel pump's pressure.. but it is always wise idea on ANY EFI sled (stock or mod) to have a Boondocker box..That way you can tune in the fuel mapping
