Summer Canceled? I second that!!

Crazy year for sure! After lookinig at the pictures you and SH have posted, I am thinking my hike plans are getting pushed off until late August...On second thought, maybe I will just ride my sled into where I was going to hike into.:face-icon-small-con

Yeah I wish I was unemployed right now I would be up there getting in one last ride, it was melting fast by Monday night.

So give us a highway report. How far did you trailer up and what was the Whitney road like?

btw, about time you posted a report this season. It's nice to see you pulled out the camera at the end of May. :face-icon-small-win

So you want the details huh?

Parked at Monviso plenty of room to turn around the 27' enclosed. Rode pavement for about 500 ft but after that it was all snow.

Gold Hill road is horrible, boulders and no snow for the first mile, Whitney road was okay Monday but patches of dirt showing through but still passable.

We went up past the Gold hill turn off to I believe it is called Hayden fork??? Boondocked that all they way in to Whitney, the higher we got the deeper the snow. Found some good pockets of 3ft plus. Dozens of open creeks and ponds, had to be careful with the 12" of fresh hiding them on Monday.

Everything above the warming hut was awesome deep but by the end of the day looked like a slurpie it was so warm. The drift at the warming hut about blocked the door opening, we were totally blown away at the amount of snow still on the ground. By the looks of the forecast that may be the last ride like that this year.

Pulled in Friday night to bare dirt but it snowed non stop all weekend. By Monday we had 12-24" of fresh on top and only saw two other riders the entire weekend.

Marc - YOU SUCK!! Far cry from the picture you sent me on Friday.

I wish I had the $$ for a Plane ticket. :becky:
