Suburban diesel?

What is the scoop? Does GM plan on building these? A 3/4 ton set-up with a Duramax sure would be sweet.

No, Not enough demand, and with this goverment loan stuff going on they will most likely start cutting truck/SUV modle lines.

For about 60K you can have your own upgraded.:beer;

one reason ive heard that it hasnt happened is because the allison wont fit in the tranny tunnel. ive been told that they had to put a body lift on the HD pickups to get it to fit.

I wouldn't count on it. I don't think you can even get the 8.1L in the suburban anymore, can you?

if you want a big people hauler why not buy a powerstroke excursion. my uncle had one that we used to use on sled trips with a 32x 8.5 behind it. six peeps and six sleds were an easy task in that rig. wish i would've bought it from him when he sold it a few years ago.

They don't make them anymore.

Diesel Sub

Your best bet is going to be to buy a newer sub then go to a wrecking yard and find a totaled Duramax and buy it as a rebuild get a better deal if the wrecking yard does not know you are just after the engine then once you get the engine out take evrything salvageable off the truck and sell it on ebay after that take the remaind to the scrap yard any deisel shop in town should be able to do the swap and as far as the body lift to fit the allison I think not it just has to be on a 3/4 ton chassis have fun and good luck I am thinking of putting a Duramax in a 72 Chevy next summer.

Well compared to the Cummins or Powerstroke of the same era, they were
horribly underpowered.
In fact, they wouldn't pull a sick whore off a piss pot.

I can't quote exact numbers, but gm's diesel market share in the 90's was nearly non-existant.
Now with the duramax they a have fair share of the market.

The ONLY ones who were happy with the 6.5's (turbo or N/A) were the die hard bowtie lovers. (and very few of them)

6.5s are pathetic for making power and not totally known for reliability. Find an older suburban with the 8.1 and call it good. The fuel economy will suck but it'll have plenty of grunt to do what you need.
