I was just watching the winter X games and saw this commercial. I know its just a dumb marketing scheme, but its obnoxious that people perpetuate the ignorant notion that when you're buried by an avalanche, its like a cave and you have to room to move and/or dig yourself out. I've heard many people tell me at the snow shows while I was helping sell avy equipment that they want an avy bag with the compressed air rather than the nitrogen equipped bags because then they could reach up and pop the bag and breathe the air in their bag until they get dug out from the snow. To the avy educated rider/skier, yeah this sounds ridiculous. But to the ignorant that walk and ride among us, its things like this lame commercial that perpetuate the stupidity of "hollow avalanches".
