stumped can anybody help

ok. I have a 2000 gen II 800. motor done by curt at fastrax. drag racing the sled. the problem is cant get over 73.5 miles an hour in 500ft. It gets there extremely quick, but towards the end of the run its like it levels out and quits pulling hard.

When we built the sled put in 400 mains riding between 4000-9000ft. But mostly between 7000-9000 in southwest Wyoming. Was thinking about throwing more weight at it with a lighter primary spring. The way it is now engaging at 6000. Rpm's are between 7900-8200. Belt hight is maybe a quarter of an inch from from top of clutch. If im not wrong tells that it should be geared up right. when we first put the sled together it had 22-40's for gearing.

If you are quarter inch from top of primary that sounds pretty good to me. Are the rpm's falling off at the end as it quits pulling? If not I would throw some more helix at it or soften the secondary spring. This will also pull down the belt in the primary a little. This may balance out the clutches some. If you're are tuning to only 500' you may need some kind of timing system to really know what's helping or run along side another sled at least. Check your piston wash at the end of each pass. Also, make one change at a time so you know which helped.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Was thinking that a lighter primary spring and more weight, engageing now at 6000 rpms. lighter spring would bring down the engagment right still learning all this fun stuff. Is the heel clicker clutch set ups worth the money.

If i remember right the secondary spring is gray and black. What helix and spring do you recomend

Try and keep close to the same rate with a lower engagement. Which primary spring do you have?

I was warming my sled up for a race a while ago and it had no top end, it would take off quick and then it would just top out lower than usual. It was runing terrible in the upper rpms. Everything looked alright, plugs were not white or burnt, so I had a race team mechanic look at it and he found nothing looked wrong. He said jet it up just to see if its running lean. I did and it ran perfect. Just one size changed everything
