Stuck Bolt!?

I am trying to remove the bolt that goes through the steering post and attaches to the tie rod (for your steering). I was able to get the nut off (with the use of a mini torch), but now can't pull the bolt through.

Any ideas?

I tried loosening the steering post so I have slop to move it, but I can't get it out - even tried pounding it from the bottom.

Thanks,

If you turn it while hammering it from the bottom, does it move?

What about grinding the head off and pounding it straight through?

I can spin it, but can't get it go move vertical. I tried spinning and hammering it with no success. The head on the bolt is huge, so not sure grinding is an option.

Well, tried the above and still can't get the c%&K sucker, so I may need to admit defeat and take it to the dealer:mad:

They won't do anything you can't!

Can you pry the head up with a flathead while turning it? If you can get it up far enough, the pickle fork is a great idea. Alternatively, you could use a wrench just large enough to get around the shoulder of the bolt and pry it while turning.

If this is a M sled can't you remove the heim off the long steering rod and pull the post out. Then you can get it on to vise or solid surface and hammer the bolt out , press would be best .

You will have to remove both heims off the steering rod. Just measure the distance so you can get it back to same length.

Its an M.

I tried using a pry bar with no luck, where can a guy find a pickle bar?

Third drawer down, in the back of the roll away... J/K, couldnt help it...

Should be able to get one at Checker's, Auto Zone.... one of them, might even rent one to you. Otherwise hit up Sears, dont think mine cost me to much...

Cool, I will check them out tomorrow.

Also, becuase I have lost my mind, can someone tell which hole the bolt is supposed to go through on the steering post. My skis are way off and this has to be it. When the skis are straight, my bars are turned to the left...

try spraying it with penetating oil and try it again tomorrow let it sit on there for a day if your just trying to ajust the bars there is a flat spot on the bar to put a 9/16 wrench on and ajust it good luck
