Stripped drain hole.

So im so smart that i managed to strip the drain hole on my chain case. I read that some poeple just used some jb weld on it but i am a bit uneasy about that. Has anyone done it or am i better off replacing the chain case? Is there any decent cheaper aftermarket chain cases? Anyone know of a bigger plug so i could retap the hole?

JB weld sucks if its bad replace the case if it still will thread in use some pipe dope. Definetly recomend replacing though. My luck is always when i try to cheat something it goes bad when i least expect it!!!

I stripped the threads on my '06 900 RMK. I tapped the hole to 1/4" pipe thread and put in a pipe plug with blue locktite. After that, I just pulled the cover to drain the oil. Worked fine and gave me a chance to inspect the chain and gears.

Sent from my iPhone when I should be working.

I want to say that a 14mm - 2 over self tapping from Napa went right in. i posted a good thread on it a while back. Might be in the "Increasing Your IQ" or just a randon post. Gotta get to bed, but I can run it down tomorrow night if needed. Good luck. EW

Wow. Well im really glad i asked before i assumed I had to replace it. Thanks

When you put double plug in your self how did it fit? Did it stick to far out the bottom or what?
