Straight rails or kicked up rails

What is everyones opinion on straight rails or kicked up rails on a pro. I realize that the straight ones are suposed to be better for climbing and the kicked up ones are better on the trail, but I don't care about the trail. Is there that big of a differance?

Yes we saw this last year not only with Pro's but with a mod sled we built. The mod had tipped up rails which we rode on for several rides with the same group of sleds...so you kinda knew where it stood with the other sleds as far as climbing. Once we straightened the rails out it made a huge climbing difference because it would just flat out "hook up" better than tipped rails. (Just look at a sled with tipped rails on a concrete floor and image what is doing in the snow...on a hill...with the throttle pinned. Snow conditions will play with this performance too...we tested in deep, dry rocky mountain powder).

We then put a power claw on it and with the function of that track made it even better for climbing in the pow...(nice design Bret R.!) now we are taking advantage of the whole skid length with this track and benefiting greatly from it. Of coarse this is a set up for playing in the back country with specific rider style, weight and skid performance ... not trails.

Thanks, that is what I needed to here. This is what is was thinking and I wanted to put straight rails on it last year. Wanted to make sure that it was worth the money. Looks like I'm getting new rails and a 163 camoplast extreme. :face-icon-small-coo

I thought the 2012 had straight rails on the 163? But I might have it wrong -- I usually do.
