Wondering how we can get sled bait trailers or RCMP motivated so we can go sledding without parking for a bite to eat and the whole works gone!
A lot of guys never come back to sled around here as they have to catch a ride home without anything and RCMP just always ask if ya had insurance?
How can clubs, Hotels, motels and businesses help to stop theives wrecking our sport?
Any ideas would be great.

Bummer and six of us are contemplating our first trip up that way . . . .
I think it's pretty interesting that a link on your first sticky is about RCMP ramping up folks avoiding the ticket booth to head up. Guess that's a cheaper revinue builder!
Good luck with this.

Boobytrap the trucks and trailers with something non-leathal or install gps tracking units on them. Or just sleep in the trailer with a shot gun ready to blow!

the key is to stay off the beaten path, never heard a problem around nelson. revy on the other hand is so close to van, kelowna, and calgary that it draws in lots of ugly city dwelling thieves that have to support there meth addictition with your hard earned pennies.....check out small towns like kaslo, new denver and nakusp.....same if not better sledding then revy without the crowds/trouble makers.

the glacier house has excellent lighting, out of the way and i belive they have there own security too. an option for those looking to take advantage of revy....

i do agree that the problem needs to be addressed at the root, but we all know the RCMP are the highest paid street gang in canada. so to expect them to do something is about as dumb as leaving your sled unlocked in revy.....

Lets hope the bait program is in place this season.

When you call to make your reservations ask the hotel if they have cameras and security. If not call the next one.

From the sled revy site.

Theft Prevention Tips
Park your vehicles in a well-lit area - Thieves don’t like to be spotted, so park in an area with good visibility and lots of pedestrian traffic.

Disable your tow vehicle at night! ~ Remove a battery terminal, coil, distributer cap, etc.

Invest in anti-theft devices ~ These are available for both your tow vehicle, your trailer and your snowmobile.

Securely lock all of your equipment! ~ Lock your trailer to your tow vehicle or to something secure.

Mark Your sleds with an identification number ~ Engrave your driver’s license in a conspicuous place.

Record all identifying info on your equipment ~ This includes your sleds, truck and trailer. Keep this information seperate from your machine.

.............we just need to catch one.

Anti theft ideas

Once again, I'll be using a baby monitor from my truck to my room that has night vision, plus a couple other mods done to the truck, plus having the proper "thief beat" stick ready by the door should do the trick. But it is sad you have to worry about things like that so much out there.
