Stock pipe problem 2009 RMK800

So my stock pipe on my 2009 800 separated allowing the insulation to get blown around the engine compartment and eventually sucked in to my throttle bodies, the detonation, bogging and two new pistons. Anyone else out there have this issue and what did you do to fix it with out having to buy a new pipe.

The pipe itself separated or the aluminum heat shield?

had the same problem on my 08, i took the shield and insulation off the pipe and havnt had any probs. thought it might be too hot for the hood but no issues in 6-7 rides. sounds better too

Take the rest of the heat sheild and insulation off and wrap the same places the heat sheild covered with header wrap.

if the pipe itself is seperated you should be able to weld it up

It was the heat shield itself that separated I am going to try the wrapping the pipe with header tape method and reinstall the shield with no insulation, Thanks for the replies
