Stock Intake Modifications???

Stock air box

Took my 06 M7 to alpine wyo two weeks ago, 4' of bottomless powder with not much for a base. Most of the weekend was spent pushing headlight deep snow. Loved this kind of rideing, As stated above stock air box with some frog skinz. For a M7 this sled runs very good, with this air box and that snow I hade no bog, hesitation or power problems.
Now tracktion is what I feel I need to improve on.
I feel that the stock plentum for deep powder is the best way to keep cool air to the motor. If you need more you have many good was to add more flow without removeing plentum. Weight is a big deal but the 3lbs you save isnt that much for what you get to deal with when the aftermarket box is used.To much risk for me, they seem to always be riped or rubbed on something, Just my .02
thanks.

To all thinking of doing this mod. Keep in mind that your engine will be ALOT louder. I can hardly hear my back up beeper and have to wear ear plugs now. Also I have read that only the 1000's benefit power from this mod. So if you dont have a 1000 your only real benefit would be the wieght loss. I gutted my hood, no insulation, foam, headlights, and I think it was close to 10 lbs.

hey

3 and 4 ft plus of fluff all day with bdx intake, and never missed a beat. I added one frogskinz in intake cover to make sure I'm always getting air. My nose is never completely under the snow for very long even in the deepest days. I'v ran several days with over the hood all day, and never had a bog at all. 400 miles with bdx intake, and its great. Take some time when you install it, and seal up front end really good, and seal up cover with waterproof tape, and rip her hard.

What are peoples thoughts on the Timbersled domes w/ outerwear intake vs BDX intake?

Also do you need to run a fuel controller on the 2010 M8 if you put one of these intakes on? sled is stock with an MBRP can so sled would potentially have an MBRP can plus one of these intakes on... fuel controller needed?

I have a timbersled intake in the garage but if you think its not worth it and the BDX intake is where its at... let me know... also if hte fuel controller is needed.

Thanks,
ryan

I have the BDX intake and an SLP can and I am not running a fuel controller. I think a few guys on here are running the BDX intake and SLP KIT and aren't running a fuel controller. So you should be fine, but it runs a little fat on the bottom end with the new intake.

I am running the BDX with my lexan hood because the plenum was a lot more work for my lexan hood. It is a lot louder with that combunation even with a tock pipe and can although it gets a little quieter at speed on trail.

I agree that you need to seal up all the cracks in the nose with silicone and tape to keep powder from getting sucked inside andpacking around the filter element. I have taken mine apart twice to find it packed tight to the fliter but it still ran fine. I tape my cover real good and silicone around the nose and bellypan anyplace that shows light with a flashlight behind it.

hey

Heres my bdx intake ready to go. I use waterproof tape on the top, and sealed up my bumper with silicone in all the holes.
