Stock ECU programming or not?

iv got a 07 M1000 with stock Ecu progamming....the guy i bought it off never changed it. should i get it changed? what exactly is gonna be changed? and can they program electronic reverse into it too? just looking for opinions....thanx

Leave it alone and count your blessing. People would love to have the 07 programming!

Perfectly stated. I ride (and love) a '07 M1000. Stock programmed ECU.....granted, I run some mods so I do run a BD fuel box to compensate for head, pipe etc..............sled rips!!

'07's had the best ECU programming when compared to '08's or '09's. 2010 models are supposed to be back in the "2007 frame of mind" as far as power.

Leave it............and enjoy. (Remember, if you do mods, you will want and need to use a fuel box like a BD or Attitude, etc.)

When I bought my sled it had a y-pipe and mbrp silencer with no fuel controller. The stock fuel pressure was 45.5 psi. It had the original `07 ecu map. So if you are only going to do a can and y-pipe you should be safe without a fuel controller. I since have piped mine and added a PCV. My sled is at the dealer getting the 09 update done and I will be using a RACINSTATION tune.:D You cannot do elec. reverse the stators are different on the motors.

Absolutly do not keep it!!!! In fact... you should send it to me immediatly, and me being the nice guy that I am will send you mine that has already been updated just to save you the hassle! :D:D

OK... seriously, as stated above, the '07 programing was the best. Make sure to tell your dealer repeatedly not to reflash it. That is what happened to mine. They did the reflash and all the other updates when it was in for service without asking. So make sure that they know not to touch it!!
