Still have coolant vanishing

ok,

So earlier this season i noticed i was loosing coolant, so i took the head off replaced the o-rings, put in the washers, put new hose clamps and a new hose from water pump to engine head, inspected large hose going to the pump and coolant tank.

After all this i still seem to be loosing coolant. I can ride for a couple of long days and then when it cools again i notice it dropping, i will get as low as the small line coming off the tank, even tightened the clamp there thinking it might be leaking out there.

I have parked it over some paper trying ti catch some drips, but still no drips, and i dont see any sitting in the belly pan.....also when i had the head off no visual milky white stuff on the pistons.....so where is it going!

any suggestions?

I'd try a coolant dye to check for external leaks, maybe you could have a base gasket leak or I've heard of the coolers leaking also.

last time i had it apart because of the leak i looked at the tops of the pistons and in at the skirts, and they all seemed to look "normal" no white frothy stuff on them

That's a major leak dude.:face-icon-small-sho. I don't think it's a good idea to be riding it until you find where the coolant is going. Your just playing with fire. Mine was burning a lot of coolant off last year, when the base gasket went on it. I had to top up the coolant level every couple of rides. If your methodical, you will be able to locate the leak. And if you don't find it, coming from any of the hoses, or clamps, and it keeps "magically disappearing" then it's the worst case scenario and the motor is digesting it. And if this is the case, your bearings are getting a serious steam bath! Based on my experiences.:ohwell:

The plot thickens....

just checked the bottle today after a 3 hours ride yesterday......lowest i have ever seen....right at the bottom!:face-icon-small-sho

I lost the cylinder base gasket on my 05 900, and was loosing my coolant there.
It would only leave a puddle while bouncing down the road in the trailer.
But would use the coolant bottle in 100 miles.

everything is pointing to base gaskets.....wondering if i should just open it up and replace them....then will fill and check it out.....if its the water pump i have to pull the motor to do that...base gaskets i can do fairly quickly if i get the parts...
