Sticky oil pump (with video) 2008 D8, burning too much oil

The first ride I had on this sled it burned almost 2 Liters of oil for the one tank of gas. I have adjusted arm so the cable so its looser and the arm comes back further but it seems to stick when the arm is at the bottom. I lubed the spring and it helped a little, but it still sticks (see video).

Has anyone had this problem?

Should I wind the spring another turn?

What I did was put a wing nut on top of the engine mount nut(rear left) with a hole drilled in it. Then found a spring at the local hardware store and strung it between the oil arm and wing nut. The spring actually keeps the wing nut from coming loose. Stopped smokin like a SOB when idling and used less oil overall.

I have the exact same issue. My solution is not to worry about it and just add oil as needed. I do like the spring idea though, and I'll add one if I ever get down there. But for with over 1500mi on the sled I've never had any problems and the sled rips. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

My wife's '08 RMK 600 had a sticky oil pump. First let me say I'm not lazy but sometimes it's hard to work on her sled. Not only that but the 600 is just bullet proof as far as having anything go wrong with it, so, we just added oil and rode it.

Okay... it was using oil at a rate of 18:1. It did bug me enough I took it in at the end of the season the first year we owned it and had the dealer look at it. What they found was the arm hung up just like your video shows. But on mine it hung up everytime if you were slowly returning from about 3/4 throttle. If you were at full throttle and let off abruptly it would bypass the hang up. But not always.

The dealer replaced the pump. They suspected there was a bent shaft, or a burr, or something inside the pump mechanism causing it to hang up. It has used the proper amount of oil ever since the replacement. They did give me the old pump, and when you cycle it, it reacts just how they explained it. Something internal is going on for sure.

I know yours is an 800 (and shouldn't be effected) but keep in mind there were two oil pumps used in these sleds (600/700's) in '08 depending on when it was manufactured. See below.
