stevens pass riding

looking for riding partners for skykomish side of stevens pass :p
30 minutes from Monroe and your in the snow:)
Anything from trail riding to 'oh sh*t what did he get us in to
I'm able to ride any day of the week

What is the name of the place you ride?
I've ridden up there for years but a ski company kicked us out of the best area.
Martin creek, Iron Goat area was awesome
PM me if you don't want to announce it.

I live off of Seattle Hill road in the Snohomish/Everett/Mill Creek/Bothell area (depending on what side of the house your on) and would love to explore the Sky area with someone who's been there.

I've heard before that you can launch and ride out of Foss Creek (first right after Sky), but have never tried.

Yeah ,sounds good to me too.

Rosco I live in the Seattle Hill, Snohomish Mill Creek area also. My wife and I both ride.

WTH?
You make this post and then disapear?
What area is good riding west of Stevens besides Martin Creek (which is now leased by a ski company and is inaccesable to sledders),
Tonga ridge, (Mosly road riding with some small off trail)
Beckler river, (where all the riding that was any good at all is now Wild Sky Wilderness)

Where are you talking about?
Am I leaving some place out?

Well I'm still up for checking the place out sometime if there's a spot 1/2 way decent.

I spent years riding up there at Martin creek and it was friggen awesome.
We got kicked out when the ski company leased the land from Longview Fiber.

Check out the "Scenery" pictures from this website... http://www.cascadepowdercats.com/
For pictures of all my old riding areas. On a crowded day I might see 3 other riders up there.
I really miss riding there.

I'm going to drive up to the end of the road today towards Tonga ridge and see if it's accessable with a large enclosed trailer.
Looking at a forest service map of the area shows quite a lot of forest roads leading to about 4000 foot +/- elevation.
There has to be some areas that a person could get off the road and do some exploring.
Hell...That's how our group discovered how awesome Martin Creek was in the beginning.
it took us about 3 years just to find the incredible play areas that were there by just punching through some forested areas only to find some of the best bowls I've ever played in.
If it looks do-able, I'll try recruiting a few folks to help explore the area since it would be really stupid to go with only my wife to watch my back!
(Damn, I hope she never see's that)

i just recently heard about this place, and very interested in checking it out. can't ride weekdays normally, but would like to check it out one of these weekends.

Just got back from a drive up there in the truck.
I got to where the county stops plowing the road and they've left a pretty good turn around and parking area.
The road getting up there is plowed well and has a very gradual grade to it.
There were two trucks up there with sled trailers and it looks like there might be room for 4 more befor it gets too crowded to turn around.
I left a note on one of the trucks to please call me and let me know what the area is like.
Actually, I wished I would have brought the sleds with us. It looks good.

I can't go up next weekend because I'm getting some teeth pulled on Friday. (I'm not supposed to do much the next couple days)

Depending on the snow level in the upcoming weeks I'll be trying the place out.

Let us know what you find out about the area up there. Shoulda messaged me, the sled is in the back of the truck ready to go. Riding buddies bailed this morning. Skykomish isn't too far from snohomish, would be real interesting to check out a place that is this close.

foss river road???

just guessing.

allways wonderd if you could get back into the areas you can see from up on top. pretty heavy timber up there.

have ridden the roads there back in the mid 80's... have hunted there also

never saw much riding ..........................................................areas

could be wrong

have hiked tonga ridge lots.....

would be good in some conditions....it is at top of previous posts road..

not too far till you are in alpine lakes .......

fyi...that hike is good for everyone as starts at a high elevation and is mostly through high alpine meadow with tons of fauna...

not much elevation gain on the trail...so is easy for most...

hey even patty murry and maria "can't do well" could make it

the ridin there......uuhhh will drive farther east.

But in times when I don't want to have to drive more than 30 miles it will be a good place to just do some boondocking and exploring, I'm hoping.

I HATE driving over US 2 anymore. That highway is a friggen joke.
I know where most of the good riding is at Fish and I ride there often but I'd love to have someplace closer.
I hear it's not nearly as good as Martin Creek was (Across the Hi-way) but we don't have that option any more.

anyone find any goodies near Stevens this season? I'm looking into the Martin Creek area, sent an email to the company and wondering if MAYBE they would be cool with throwing a few scraps our way, or even opening the entire area for Spring riding? Other places out there do it:

I heard Iron Gate is a go once Powdercats shut down. I believe they are shut down now. Can anyone confirm? I rode there that week that the pass was closed due to Avalanche and it was DEEP. Had to turn back after 3 hours cause I forgot my snorkel.
