Steering Post

Does anybody know of a aftermarket steering post for a '09 Dragon? I'm having a heck of a time finding one. Mine broke right at one of the bends so I don't think I can fix it and would like to replace it with a stronger and possibly lighter one if possible.

Yep...been there done that. PM Wildchild on the forums here. He makes a chromoly post. I would also make another recommendation....If you're running an 09 or 10 Dragon, then I'd recommend getting rid of the stock "FLAT PLATE" design and go with the Twin Post stlye steering shaft of the 08 Dragon and 09-10 Non-Dragon (RMK). I have done a 15 page math calculation that proves the twin post design is stronger than the flat plate design. Not to mention I broke my first one going off a jump with less than 300 miles.

twin post?? are you talking about the old T post style like the pro-x's had??

i was thinking of beefing up the oem steering post on my 06 900 switchback, by swapping out the original u-joint with a STRONG & servicable unit, adding a thicker T-plate and maybe some tougher tubing, and im getting rid of the rider select unit! even with minimal play (which is rare, usually they have a ton of slop) the rider select unit is a huge culprit when it comes to steering shaft breakage and bendage!

Yeah, sometimes it's referred to as a pivot post or a T post.

I've got an 07 dragon, sounds like a similar setup. Do you have to pull the motor to access the steering linkage? I got my airbox out and my intake boots off and can't even see where the post ends.
