Steering help

i have a 2003 mxz 800 and there is alot of play in the steering both side to side and a little if you pull up on the bars. Does anyone know how to eliminate the play when pulling up on the bars.

The picture (if it works) shows what i have done so far so if you guys can help me with the rest that would be great

Steve, I have a 2003 Summit and mine felt sloppy almost from new. I found that the bolt that went trough the aluminum rack-and -pinion type thing, left alot of up/down play. I found a large washer put on top to stop the up/down movement that occured when you wiggled the bars back and forth with a little load.
