Steamboat or Breckinridge?

Idk bro, steamboat would be nice for the ears and a quick jaunt up to the snowies. Breck will be closer to a couple smaller places like Vail pass, corona pass, church's park, grand lake and all those, even go out to grand mesa. Idk man its a tough one, that early in the season I'd say the ears might be the best bet, plus its one of the baddest places in the state if your into backcountry riding...

Are you guys coming out for just snowmobiling or do you have other plans (skiing, night life, etc)? That really changes what I would recommend.

If all you want to do is ride I skip Breck and skip Steamboat. Stay in Kremmling. Nightlife is not great, but the riding is awesome. Grand Mesa is great as well, although it is probably another 2 hours further from Denver, again no nightlife.

If you are dead set on a place with nightlife, Steamboat will work, although it is far from Denver. Steamboat will put you riding at Rabbit Ears as well. Breckinridge is nice for nightlife but for New Years you are going to be talking big money to stay there. That is prime/peak season.

NIGHT LIFE

The night life anywhere is as good as you make it!! I have had some great nights in the cenntinial area, albany lodge is a great time and some of the gals there are as good looking as any you will find!!!

Basically we are looking for a decent place to stay with a place we can go after the ride. In Wyoming we rented a house. All we did was ride and go back to the house. Any good reviews on monarch mountain lodge? Were looking for something along that line. Thanks

Chicks in both towns are pretty ugly. Brek will be better but CB has the hottest ladies

LOL. Only of you like pichule oil (sp) ansd pot

Girls get better looking later in the night after more beers.

Never been to TML. Hoping to get there this season, but night life is further down the hill into Grand Juntion.

If you stay in kremmling you get good sledding access to many places. There is ZERO nightlife unless you wanna sit around in a bar and swap lies. The good looking girls are waitresses and under-age. Trust me on that one. But there are several places that cater to sledders as far as rates go. The cabins, the Allington and Cliffview all offer impressive deals to sledders, IF YOU ASK! Just hit www.kremmlingchamber.com to see the places and get numbers.

I'd recommend TML, Steamboat Lake Outfitters, or maybe Grand Lake. TML has a bar resteraunt, nice cabins, and a couple of big hot tubs and great snow. SLO about the same minus the hot tubs. Grand Lake is a small town but you can usually ride right out of town to the trails. All these places have plenty of other sledders to party with, but if your looking for paid entertainment then stay in Denver and hit the strip joints and bars. lol If you don't mind trailering a half hour there are a lot more options. Monarch has a ski area there. Never heard anything about sledding.

Another option:

Located in Red Cliff on the other end of Vail Pass. You drive through Vail and then head south on Hwy 24 toward Leadville. About 15 miles from I-70. They like snowmobillers, they own Mangos (popular place for the Vail Pass Crowd to go). Their rates are much cheaper than Vail, New Years up there is a blast.
They have ride in ride out sledding for the Vail Pass and Camp Hail area. You can drive withing 30 minutes and access a lot of other riding as well.

My opinion for what it is worth -

If you are driving all the way out here from Chicago and your main purpose is sledding - go to the best place you can for sledding. Trying to compromise and getting the best of both will probably just leave you with an overall "average" trip.

Hit Denver one night on your way to or from the mountains and tear it up for a night.
