Steamboat Lodging, Mountain Snowmobile Rentals

Colorado mtn riders,
A group of five mountain riders with their wives wanting to plan a trip to Steamboat. I'm looking for a nice place to stay(3 or 4 star) hotel in Steamboat for the ladies. I'm also looking for a dealership to rent mtn sleds, preferably Ski Doo, but anything else will do. We rode Rabbit Ears with Chris Burandt and the powder was unbeleivable. We make a trip to a different state every year and we want to hit Colorado. We are going to fly from California to Denver? Anyone can help me out? If your ever in Cali look us up we can show you around Tahoe, Shasta, and Norcal.

You could probably rent from Action Motorsports. I know some guys did that a few years back. There is also a place near denver that rents sleds but then you need to trailer to Steamboat.

When I used to stay in Steamboat we would stay at the Rabbit Ears inn. It's no spa but we liked it because there was room to part a trailer easily. My guess is the nicer places will have limited trailer parking but that is a guess.

When you get into town make sure you eat at the Ore House. My buddy manages it and Iceman (on this forum) is one of the cooks :)

lucky man

sounds like you have got it all figured out, the gals stay at the resort while the guys hit the steep and deep, preferably on a dragon turbo, or something just as capable..........................wish i would of thought of that. have fun on your guys week with the girls thinkin you took them somewhere too.......................

Action, which later became Planet, and now called Steamboat Powersports no longer rents sleds. But one of my riding buddies up North of Clark rents Polaris Dragons with 155 tracks. Stan Wagner is his name and he does deliver the sleds to SLO or the Columbine Gravel Pit (North Routt). I'll post his number when I get back home. There is a rental company in Grand Lake who delivers to the Rabbit Ears, Steamboat, and Clark/SLO area's, but they only rent Ski-doo 600 with 146 tracks.

The only Doo rentals I know of are based at PowerWorld in Granby. Don't let them screw because they WILL try.

The nicest hotels in Steamboat are on the Hill. Very limited parking. Trailers would be a nogo.

I'll put in a '2nd' for Stan. Great guy, my brother in law did some work with him when he lived down here, and we try to ride with him a couple times a year. Last year we had a great ride north of Midnight Ranch - good times...... If Zoomie doesn't get you his number let me know and I will call my brother in law.

I would go out to SLO (Steamboat Lake Outfitters) just a bit northwest of downtown Steamboat to stay & ride. They have great cabins for rent & the food is just as good as the riding at the lodge. Great people to boot. Sled rentals down in Steamboat will deliver out there too as stated before.

PowerWorld in Granby rents 800 XPs with 154s. I know nothing about delivery and you had better pick the sleds up Tues-Sat because they are closed Sunday and Monday.

That's quite a haul for the ladies to be doing every day, would probably be in the guys best interest to stay in Steamboat to keep them happy - and have a chance at another trip sometime. Just my opinion FWIW.

My bad. Forgot the wives were along. Your right tmk...Better to stay downtown & the guys head up to Rabbit Ears/ Buff Pass for the day & let the rental company get the sleds there for em. Plenty of shops downtown & quite the nice "micro-brewery" to check out on the main drag. Good times..Good times.

Where exactly is the closest snowpark to steamboat for some good riding. I have been interested in riding out of that area sometime.

Maybe if someone has a google map?

Thanks
Shawn

Zoomie,
Do you still have Stan's number, I'd like to get a hold of him. Is there anyone else that would like to show some Cali mtn riders some good riding? We can return the favor.:beer;:beer;:beer;:face-icon-small-coo

When will you be out? I make it out that way a few times a year but usually ride S. Colorado. If not I could hook you up with a couple local guys out there that don't mind showing people around.

I make it out to Sonora Pass every year to stay at a buddies backcountry cabin. Timed it perfectly last year during that massive storm over President weekend!

We can show you around, as long as we don't have a group larger than six or seven, any bigger than that and it gets to be too big of a group to have fun.

When are you heading out? We ride the SLO area quite a bit and would love to show you around. Let me know when you'll be out and if we're there at the same time we'll hook up.

Steamboat trip

We will be there Feb 18-21. Probably ride 3 days. We will ride 2 days with the ladies and one day guys only. We have 7 when the ladies ride four when they don't. Zoomie, I got a hold of Stan and he said he can rent us some sleds. He also said he would take us riding.
