steamboat conditions? first time going

this will be my first time going to steamboat not sure if any of the group had been there. going the 20th to the 27 or 28th. dont know where we are staying or any of that but wheres the good areas to go riding. the smallest sled is a 600 fusion with a 136X1.25 of 1.5 lug. all decent riders. any incite would be great thanks

i live at the bottom of rabbit ears,go up there quite a bit with my family, easy trails to good climbing and boondockin,or buff pass good groomed trails lots of riding, climbig and trees also good open areas to play in with our lack of snow theres not much powder riding, snowing now so that might change, any other questions pm me id be glad to help.

Rode RE yesterday, not epic but still good. Still able to find un-tracked pow in many places...Keep in mind that it can snow like a MoFO in March....Nobody in the lower 48 has better snow right now, so you will be good to go...Ride safe...Get a CO snow pass...

so rabbits ear and buff pass is a good place to start? once i find out where we are staying will be able to look at maps on google or something. is it mostly trail to get to the play areas or is it point and go? how many places have gas out there? any on the mountain and how much?

thanks

Both areas are good just make sure not to go into the sled restricted areas. USFS patrols and the tickets suck. Plenty of area to ride without those areas.

is the area more of the climbing or powerder riding? i would like to find a few hill to climb. we all like to jump out there. some more than others but. we do have 2 turboed sleds going in the group 1 a 800 turbo polaris and the other a turboed yamaha of some kind.

thanks

Rabbit Ears is unload and go although there is a trail you can fallow. Buff Pass you have to ride some trail to get up on top and the it opens up. Steamboat has like 20 gas stations. No gas actually on Rabbit Ears or Buff. You have to drive through town to get to the trail head at Buff.

You have to trailer to a gas station. There are not any gas stations on the trail system and the trail system does not connect to town. You have to trailer to the riding from town.

rabbit ears has a nice bowl some guys practice for the jackson hole hill climb, really cool go to dumont parking area, and just ask whare it is,and yes you can point and go,but if you have people in your group that like the trails you can ride trails to plenty of play areas in fact you can ride from rabbit ears to buff pass a great ride its a big loop,if you got maps its pretty self explanatory.
