Wonder what their story is. Probably unfamiliar with the area and didn't see the tiny signs. I call that area the entrapment zone. I take riding buddies near that boundary and better than half don't notice the little signs, even when they are 20' away. If your not looking for them, they are easy to miss with only half your peripheral vision working. No excuse for not knowing where your at but that boundary is easy to cross without knowing it. They should have big blaze orange signs on that boundary at buff, but that would defeat their purpose of gouging lost sledders.

I wonder what the tickets were for (amount)? "...up to $5,000". So what is the distinguishing factor of how much the ticket is for?

Up there it's just out of bounds. If you get caught crossing the white sidelines you will get a ticket.

No,it wasn't Wilderness, seems like they like to choose little spots in random areas by the cross country skier areas, and label them non motorized. But i didn't have scratchers and it was the only spot with a little fresh that i needed real bad,Forest service guys hide up in the trees and nail you, wouldn't even let me off with a warning.

Yep, they just wait an hunt. Instead of actually telling you "hey, your near the boundry" They just wait n watch until you cross so they can make ya look bad and make a buck.

Seriously broken system, no doubt.

I guess they really could care less about informing people, instead just out to make us look bad.
Really pro attitude for people who preach "making the world a better place" BS...

So, you can ski in wilderness? With those noise mechanical clamps, and all that snow packing their doing? Ruining it for all the wild life, creating tracks for the wolves to move on and hunter other animals.
Skiers are ruining the balance of life! AHHHHH! I'm going to go cry in my pillow now and plead to the tree gods to help punish these kinda people for their atrocities (sp?)!

I was on buff on Tuesday and the forest service was up running the boundary. They are pricks. I was broke down and they said how can I help and i told them they could get my bro who was walkin and he said no thanks. Then he said have a good day. He startedx to leave and stopped and says where is your registration.

i swear that the signs get moved making the wilderness bigger every year.

aha wilderness the land of no uses

THAT WOULD'VE BEEN A REALLY BAD DAY FOR AN AZZHAT LIKE THAT IF IT WAS ME:mad: we would have found out how big a ticket he could think of to give me and prolly found out how far the jail was:eek:

Hell ya, makes me mad just reading it. That sob would not have rode off and left me, some one would get hurt.

He probably asked for reg. for calling out the azzhole when he said no to helping you. I would've started calling that ****er out, to leave a guy walking is crap!

There are boundary signs in many areas and maps at winter trailheads showing areas closed to snowmobiles. Violations are punishable by fines of as much as $10,000, one year in jail and the forfeiture of snowmobiles and other items involved.

that is such a ****ing crock of ****.

How about they start confiscating horses too?

That causes way more "environmental impact" than anyone riding a sled ever did.

Talk about a double standard ... .

piss on usfs I urge all able riders to run and make them chase you.

You know what I find absolutley appalling?

They have effectivley deputized those dip****s and given them the same authority to arrest people as regular police officers have.

They have never gone through Police Academy either, they pretty much just say "Here's a gun, you're a Tree Cop now!"

Scary ....

Do the tree cops ride real sleds yet, or are they still sportin old Yammi 2 ups that you can leave in the dust?
Never see them where we ride, 'cept one parkign lot where my buddy got crap for taking a leak next to his truck. Friggin fish cop threatened to ticket him! (There wsa only about 3 rigs in the parking lot)

I've seen them on 700 RMKs. They can't ride for squat, watching them try to get out of the lot on a deep powder day is almost worth sitting in the lot all day just to watch em.

But the fact of the matter is that Wilderness is here to stay and it's only gonna get worse for at least the next three years until we get this douchebag administration out of office. All the negativity and blatant public disregard for the boundary is going to make things tougher on us and our sport.
