Starting Sled With Clutch Removed?

I pulled the clutch on my 06 755 to get it balanced since then I installed an SLP can and am itching to hear what it sounds like. I had an MBRP but thought it was too loud (never thought I'd admit something I had was to loud) anyways can I start it with the clutch removed or is that a NO NO ? Thanks

You can start it, just don't "get after it". I've heard not to go over 2000 rpms or so without the clutch on.

I have often wondered the same thing but never bothered to askand never wanted to chance it . Should be interesting to see the difference in opinion. I personally dont see why it would be an issue but like Jsledder said keep the Rs down . they are balanced for 0 I do believe but just spinng the clutch iteself takes HP and it acts like a harmonic balancer . I imagine you may see a substantial increase in idle RPM without it also.

Start the damn thing and let her idle. You know you want to so just do it. Don't rev the piss out of it, but it's o.k to start it. It's not going to blow up.

^^LOL..

tru tru..

the key here is not OVER revving it..you will cause an over rev of the engine and create an issue..indydan strictly stated NOT to rev it very high..sorry i do not have the quote..

but like stated..if you just cant wait to run it..do so..and let it idle..no sense of reving it..or wait till the clutch is back and installed..

cheers..

Thanks for the input guys I think i'm gonna have to start it and see what it sounds like. I'm just as impatient as a 5yr old (haha). I'll let you guys know what happens.:)

Started the sled, nothing bad happened. Idled fine still vibrated though:(
I was hoping that maybe the clutch had something to do with the vibration but unfortunatley not, oh well I can live with it. Was a little quieter than the MBRP at idle. I didn't really rev it up but hopefully it will be quieter throughout the the rpm range.
