Stainless Steel Valves?? YZ450F

So I was gaming for a CR500, but stumbled on a sweet deal for this 07 YZ450F. I've got the motor out and I'm going to put new exhaust valves in (were out of spec, intake look OK) and a new piston. I'm planning to run it on a '14 Timbersled LT for the winter and see how it works out.

Are the Black Diamond steel valves good to run??? UncleSi burned through his titanium valves on his KX450, so I am thinking steel is the way to go. Should I replace the intakes while I am in there ?? They are in spec and look OK, but I have the motor torn apart.

I was going to get a Wiseco 13.5:1 piston stock bore and run pump premium, good way to go?

I have a rickystator, heated grips and some hand guards. I got some powder screen to seal up the airbox, and am going to make a large plastic shield for the motor/skid too.

I don't have any idea about the valves, but I would call a big performance shop like FMF or Pro Circuit, and see what they do. Let them know bike will run at high RPM and high load for extended periods, since they probably have no clue about what a snowbike is!!! Good luck, nice looking bike.

I know traditionally the valves on the yzs are good... The problem with stainless steel is you beat the hell out of the seats... It has always been recommended to be to keep the titaniums especially when reving it out... Now on other bikes it is a different story.. That's my 2 cents....

Even on other bikes that notoriously eat valves the exhaust are usually good for a very long time. I know, I have a CRF450X. Yamaha normally doesn't wear that fast. I would adjust the valves to spec and see if they hold.

Well that escalated quickly... You aren't afraid to tear a bike all the way down! Seems odd for the exhausts to be out of spec usually the intakes are what goes out of spec but all I deal with is hondas...

At this point you might want to look at a big bore kit and putting in a quality rod and a balanced crank.frame looks great.all of your hard work will pay off on the 1st ride
