Stainless Steel Filters

I suspect this is one of those questions that comes up from time to time (have not found a recent thread). Is anyone using a stainless steel filter in their bike? From what I reed on them is that it flows better when cold and may help if you get water in the oil. I'm coming up on a change and wondering if a reusable filter and a cheaper oil like rotella T6 changed often is a good solution. What about the clutch particles, are they small enough to get through the SS filter?

Thanks

Changing oil frequently is the most important part arguing about filters is just that. I change oil 2 times without filter the 3rd time I do a filter. Usually ever 3 ride in the snow or more frequent if I see any moisture build up. Had one bike that came with a stainless filter and kept using it without issues but usually I use the stock paper elements and never had an issue with them either. Make your choice and go for it
Both work well. In my opinion it is more of a issue of economics. Same with oil keep it clean and fresh is most Important Any high end diesel oil works fine. I like synthetic 5-40 diesel oil for the snow-bike.

I used to run the ss filters religiously, but went back to paper. With paper you can easily see water in your oil. They will start warping.
I also didn't feel the ss was really doing its job and was a bit of a PITA to clean.
Then the rubber grommet would wear out and I would have to buy a paper to replace that grommet.
I change the filters every other oil change, maybe a little added cost, but my peace of mind is worth a few bucks.
My two cents, take them for what they cost ya :)
