Stabbed another track today

We'll track number three is toast. Two weekends ago I stabbed number 2 and ordered a anti-stab kit, cut down track number three yesterday and got it installed. I couldn't wait for the anti-stab kit so I went riding anyway. After about three hours of riding I made an approach to a hill and grabbed a handful and got pitched over the bars. Luckily it was only one side and I was able to ride it out. I'm so frustrated, I don't know what I changed that made this problem. I had a full season on the last track with no issues, and now 2 tracks in 2 rides.

Wrath of the Mods?

There was a community mass tire slashing attack on the local news tonight, maybe some disgrunteled Twoskis!

anti stab kit is a little wheel that goes on the end of the rail, the end right near the driver. Keeps the rail from "stabbing" into the driver window on the track.

CJ, are you running the swignarm relocation brackets or the longer swignarms ? If longer swignarms, what upper pivot point ? If it's another pivot point, further back, than the lower limiter strap, then it might be the cause.

That's a real pain though... but it's a good reason to host a track cutting party in your garage with all the AK Hawk riders !

Here is dumb question # 2. How does stabbing the track ruin it? Does it stick through the window and tear the track due to the track rotation? I would almost think it would bring the track to an instant halt, yet only punch that window a bit wider. What am I missing here?

Also, isn't that kit that they sell an Arctic Cat part, where you could purchase it locally and avoid the wait? I was thinking I read this somewhere, but am not sure.

I have an anti stab for my arctic cat and sled2r's for the hawk and sled2r's is an awesome quality as compared to others, a little heavier but well worth the slight extra ounces and the time it might take....

I installed the swingarm relocation brackets. but those more or less lowered the seat height and put less pressure on the front of the track.

That is exactly what happens, the faster the track is spinning when it happens the worse the tear. On track number 1 I was flying and It took out 9 windows. track number 2 i was was only going about 10 mph and off the throttle. 1 window that time.

cj, thanks for explaining and sorry to hear about your bad news. What if every window were clipped? Would that make the track stronger and not tear as easy?

It would not matter, The track that I just ruined was clipped on every open hole. It even rips the Kevlar reinforcements to shreds. The only way to make sure it won't happen is the anti-stab kit. A shaft with wheels on the very tip of the rail, that way when the angle of the rail is right, the wheels will keep the track from hitting the rail tip.

I'm just confused as to why all of a sudden it is such a problem.

I wish I could help, but you know way more about these Hawks than I do. I am thinking it may be the new track approach angle with the drop brackets...but who knows?!?

Hope you get it figured out soon, before it gets real expensive.

Later...AkBillyBow
