Hey guys, anyone else notice a similar rub spot on the spyder nut, have looked at 4 axys and all have this same rub spot. Any thoughts?

It has happened on all polaris p85 clutches for as long as I can remember. It is the spring vibrating and rubbing on it, nothing to worry about.

^^^^ yep.
A slick shift washer from indydan will help keep springbind down but the mark is still there.

Also marks the spider under full shift.

And the cover as your picture shows. :)

And this is why you need to make sure the half moon cuts where the jam nut tool grabs are filed smooth. If not, it will cause the spring to break.

OP, am I seeing things or is there a crack on that center piece in your pic :face-icon-small-sho

Those would be casting marks/flaws. There is alot of these on both primary's & secondary's.

This is a common issue that we see all the time while servicing clutch's. Some of the nuts have very sharp edges that I have seen cut the spring and in a few cases have caused the spring to fail. We always relieve any sharp edges while the clutch cover is off. Cheep insurance. Most of the time rub marks are just the spring moving around during normal operation.
