Anyone around Revy using spot? Just curious what people are programming into the "help" button? I wonder if the chopper could be programmed in?

Anyone tested it in the hills?

got one this summer, worked great around home. finally got to try it out in the mountains west of Chetwynd on the weekend and every single "OK" message went through. tried it from a few different places because I've read reports of guys having trouble with them not sending messages in deep valleys, mine worked fine from 2 areas in a valley running northeast/southwest. Revy is quite a bit south of where I was, I'm sure it would work well there.

when you hit the 911 button, it goes to a SPOT call centre and they relay to S&R. you could program the "HELP" message to go to the chopper, it would go directly to them as email or text message, whichever you specify.

there's a few deals on the service contract right now, as well as a rebate on the purchase price.

my "HELP" message goes to all my contacts, just a blurb saying need help, non life threatening emergency.

We have a dozen or so at work, they have not failed yet according to our safety guy. Not sure what you can program into them. I think they are awesome and cheap, you can have multiple people emailed or even a text message to a phone to check in. If ts bad 911. If teeroy has no problem around Chetwnd, you laughing around Revy, just remember the majority of our satelites are in the southern horizon so deep valleys will hider the sat signals.
