Split Screen video

That could be really fun to watch in the right situations.

Why is the quality so different? Different Camera's or different settings?
How did you merge the 2 camera's?

Ya two different Contour cameras with different settings but also the one on the right was in the waterproof case and it kept frosting over because it was so cold. Usually that case works really well and keeps the snow from sticking to the lens but when it is close to 0 degrees it kept frosting over. I think the heat from the camera made it fog up and frost over in those conditions.

The camera on the left is the Contour HD and the one on the right is the Contour HD 1080p on the tall setting.

I have a program call Loiloscope to do the editing. I can put multiple videos on the same timeline and play at the same time. Just have to adjust the size of the video for each and get them lined up exactly the same. The hard part is getting the two cameras on exactly the same frame when playing them. Can be a bit tricky but i think i got it pretty darn close.

Yeah, your timing looked spot on. Settings being different explains a lot. That's a cool program. We've learned when following somebody to film you really need to keep on them and ride a direct line without playing. I think your side by side would be sick on some steep down hill carving or in the tight tree's if you could keep up. I'd say ditch the case and set them both the same (720p I guess).:face-icon-small-hap

Bright sunny days work great with the case as you can see by the video posted below. The snow hits the lens and just falls right off and the clearity is great. Without the case the snow sticks to the lens especaily on those deep days and you come back with a gray screen because of the snow on the lens. Trust me I have done that many times after coming back from a great ride only to find out that 8 minutes of a great 10 minute clip is all grayed out because of the snow. THAT SUCKS!!! I bet 1/4 of my friends shots are grayed out because of that on this last trip. I guess in those conditions I could leave the case in the pack and just have to check the lens every couple of minutes. I have done that too and there have been times when i check the lens and it was clear and after my glove touches the lens now there are water spots on the lens that block the view. You just can never win i guess. There are advantages and disadvantages to every possible solution.

I know exactly what you're saying. I lost 8 segments in a row last week due to a snow blind lens and would have been the best deep carving shots of the year so far. On top of that I lost 80% of my footage do to faulty cards needing to be re-formatted. Talk about pissing a guy off. Not only did I lose the footage I had stored but lost the rest of the day since my camera wouldn't turn on due to card issues.:face-icon-small-sad So my advise to everybody is carry a spare card with you. We have 3 camera's and it's happened to all of them.

Do you have the contour camera as well? I do know that if you turn the camera on with the record button slightly forward it can mess up the cards. I did that on my first couple of rides with my first camera. I was pissed at that too.

cool video. GoPro is coming out with a 3D expansion kit, you can connect two cameras together and record in 1080p 3D.

Soon you'll be able to combine two HD HERO cameras in one housing with a synchronization cable to shoot full 1080p 3D video. All 1080p HD HERO cameras will be compatible with the 3D HERO Expansion kit.

Owning two 1080p HD HERO cameras makes more sense than ever before. Capture multiple angles at once using both as individual cameras or combine them with the 3D HERO Expansion Kit to shoot 1080p 3D video.

Yeah (Contours), 2-1080 and 1-720.
That may very well be the problem. I know my slide is getting really sloppy where as GP's is so hard to slide she has to take her glove off to record. I'll have to pay closer attention when turning on. Thanks for the tip.:face-icon-small-hap

I have noticed with my 720 that the record slide is so loose that it would turn on and off on its own. I put some scotch tape on the camera underneath the record slide in each postion. Now it doesn't turn off or on by itself anymore.

It's great footage...but I find myself switching back and forth trying to watch both....feel like I'm missing something on one side while watching the other. But it's an interesting concept.

If only my left eye could watch the left and my right eye could watch the right at the same time it'd be cool. :face-icon-small-con

I agree though, cool concept but it's hard not to think I'm missing something. :face-icon-small-hap

Great ending! :face-icon-small-hap
