Spirit Mt. Hillcross Race

LOL enjoy the snow.... do we live in the same state... hahaha.... Plan on makin the trip to watch ya fellas tear it up.... Hope they don't cancel cuz this should be sweet

Anybody know any more info on the race yet? Its windy as hell right now and sounds like it will be untill tomorrow morning. I doubt they can be working on the track if its not already done, the snow is pretty heavy so it shouldn't drift or ruin the track that much if its built already. If not built im sure it will be running late. Is this a WPSA hillcross? I have been out of the loop awhile and the WPSA page doesnt work. Looking forward to watching some races and drinking some beer! Anyone gonna party it up sat night?

it is a wsa event not wpsa. i would imangine the track was already built as normally we have practice on fridays, but it hopefully the track will be more solid harder snow, not so soft, mushy and sticky snow.

www.pro-ice.com is the website.

Actually the forecast doesn't look too bad for Saturday and Sunday.

I will be there. I'm gonna be running hilldrags though. My back just isn't up for hillx after aggravating a previous injury coming up short on the double too many times last weekend.

Hellz Yeah! :beer; You must have never been to a hill-x before if you have to ask. :D There should be a shuttle bus running from the hotels to The Powerhouse in Proctor Sat nite.

The roads were surprisingly good between St Cloud and Duluth this afternoon- not quite the blizzard they were forecasting- windy, but not much snow.

The hill is done, but may need some touch-up in the AM-driver's meeting at 9:30AM- racing at 11:00?...

I won Hill Drag Sport Open

My non drag racer 1000 King Cat worked. Life is good. I crashed in Smi-pro Open. After taking a second in the first round of two. Ah well.

Owen

That was a strange race.

I would have liked another chance at smi pro open too, but that's the way she crumbles. I'm sure glad I ran more than one class.

Congrats to Glenn on his win in hill drag pro-open Sun.

Owen

Hey Owen, was that you that borrowed us the strap to get our sled started when the recoil broke? If so, thanks alot, much appreciated. Also, did you get it back? There was so much commotion going on I wasn't sure if you got it back-if not I will get one to you ASAP, just let me know, thanks again.
Troy

This ticks me off! I really wanted to come up there last weekend and I totally spaced it!

It sounds like a blast!

KJP

Yes, Troy , I did get it back.

Sorry we didn't get to BS , but I'll look you up when I'm in Thief.
You guys looked good. Congrats.

Owen

Good, just wanted to make sure you got it.
I gotta say, I do enjoy those hill drags, but the program seems to take way longer than it should. Not the most organized event I have been at.

I am usually racing the hillcross side, and it is quite a bit more organized on that side.

The two biggest differences I noticed:

1. Waiting for hillx drivers.
2. Running heats out of order. Hillx sticks to the program pretty strictly.
3. Finals and last chance eliminators in hillX are posted saturday night at the press party. While hilldrags do not have that 2 day luxury, it would have been nice to have a 30 minute break between qualifying and the eliminations/finals where they tally up the scores and have a printout of how everyone did and what they made it into. For those people in hilldrags that got a few 2nds and 3rds it was confusing as heck as to whether they made the final or what was going on.

Wow, you must not have been running Hill-x at Duluth then. The didn't seem to stick to anything. First, its going to start at 930, then its finally going by 1100, then we'll take a break now and not the scheduled one later, oops i guess we'll take the one too only not tell you how long or anything. Oh, and we'll make the race order down at the bottom of the hill but not tell the anouncer so that he can tell who is in what race. THe last chances were posted sat night, but not put on the board until way late morning sunday, not sure what the hold up was besides the last few classes that needed to finish running round 2 sunday am. Just sounds like the same program on both sides to me, and the poor Kids-x, they get so tired and hungry waiting around all day. Maybe the banquet would be a good time to talk to the racers about what they feel or see, cause at the events it goes right on through.... Nice weather though, but they cannot do anything to change that:)

In all fairness, they should have had Fri to get ready.

The storm was brutal all day Fri. I was there plowing. I wanted to do some tuning runs , but not in that shi**. I think they were just lucky to get the rigs parked. I know many delayed comming til Sat. All in all I think it went about as well as it could have.
Why did so many Hill-crossers get hurt?

Owen

So many hill-xers got hurt because they built a retarded track like they always do. I've been around it for 1o yrs and only a handful of tracks have been good!!! Someday they mite figure it out. But don't hold ur breath....

I second that Ryan. There were only a handful of really "good" tracks in the 10 + I have been doing it.

We (Friends, Family, Pit Crew, Sponsors) have adapted to "Hillcross Time" If they say practice starts at 10:30, I dont tell my crew to show up until noon. That way at least my wife and kids dont have to hang out in the cold and get bored silly until they acutally get to see a race. It needs to change, I am just not sure if it will.
