Spi vs, squish?

Hi! my first post in here.

just installed a set of spi pistons in my 800MC 2001mod, just to be safe i checked the squish, and it is 2.7mm:face-icon-small-dis (the manual says it should be 1.55mm). can it be the winderosa basegasket is fater then the stock one? or the spi pistons is makeing the gap bigger?

best thing just shave the head so i get down to 1.55mm?

thanks for any answers.

im norwgian so my wrighting isnt the best:face-icon-small-con

The base gasket will not only change the squish, but also change the port timing.

squish

I don't know specifically about Winderosa gaskets, but the ones Wiseco and Starting Line Products sell are thicker than the stock ones. They are not a full millimeter plus thicker though, only about .003 inch difference which if I did the conversion right is only about .1 mm. I don't have any other explanation for why the SPI pistons would do that. I would pull a cylinder off and check the base gaskets to be sure before I did any cutting on your heads.

Your English spelling is a lot better than some I've seen from people that live here!

Pulled the sylinder today. The new base gasket is tha same as the old one
(0.7mm)
Mesured the spi vs, stok piston, wristpin and up to crown. (the same 21mm)

can Suzuki be so sloppy that they put together an engine whit 2.7mm squish band, over an millimeter more than rec???

p,s, have mesured whit solder to pto and mag side both syl.
