Speed Sensor Fail

Hi

The speed sensor died, bought a new one. Worked perfect for 2 days, and now that one is also dead. Cant find any reason, wires is ok and ground is good.

The old sensor and the new one before use had the same resistants (ohm)

What voltage is normal to read ?
Will a diode lamp show the puls from the sensor if ok, or even a multimeter ?
At the driveshaft, the bearing and the gear looks fine. No grease at the gear.

At 60$ i dont want to test another one

2008 600rmk with carburetor

ps:

Earlier in its life the hand warmers shorted out some parts. Like the gauge and ecu or something. Warrenty work

Your speed sensor can stop working if there is too much grease in the bearing cover, where the sensors mounts!. This happened to me once... pull the bearing cup off and clean out the EXCESS grease then see if she works!

Now it sometimes shows speed when idling . And stops when the rpm increase.

Whats your voltage (without unplugging it)at the Green w/red stripe wire?
You will find it at the connection between hood and chassis in the main harness.
The one with 12 wires.

5v on the green w/red stripe at the connection to the speed sensor( without unplugging). At idling. The speed sensor is magnetic, so when i put metal on it, it shows 3 volts.

When i measure ohm between the red/orange and ground to the gauge. It shows first 0 ohm and increase slow up to over 600ohm. Dont know if this is right.

What does this capacitor filter ? It connect the ground and the red/orange wire to the speed sensor.

Thanks

I`m sorry, the last voltage nubers are wrong.

I dont understand this ****. When the sensor is out of the drive shaft, it shows 0 volts, and when hitting metal it goes to 5 volts, the old one 3 volts. And when i remove the metal is shows 3 volts new and 1.5 volts old. When turning the sled off, it slowly looses voltage. When down to 0v it needs to hit some metal to get the voltage back when idling.

Now it is mounted in the drive shaft and shows 2.5-3 volts. When increasing the rpm, it drops to 1.8-2 volts. Now i don`t understand firkin ****.

Might try a new sensor 60$ and a new capacitor 80$.

The local dealer don`t understand either.

Edit: The new and old one is both not working

I give up!

Now it shows 0 volts at idling and up to 1 volt when track is spinning.

Still not working.

also Make sure that the Magnetic Bolt is still in the end of the drive shaft.. and ALL grease is cleaned of the End of the shaft and bolt and sensor to get a reading..

Everything is ok. Bolt, gear, bearing and sensor. Clean and dry.
