Check the inside of your clutch cover to make sure the its not hitting. It will be obvious if it is. I've had it happen to my 2st.

take your oil filter out and cut it open... take a exacto blade and slice 360 degrees around each end, then make a slit down one of the spines and stretch it out like an accordion to really get a good look at whats in there.

usually shouldnt be much flakes in the oil if your filter is catching it... clutch dust maybe?

No Wear

Clutch taken apart, dampeners almost fell out. Was expecting to see some wear on the basket or friction plates. Everything looked good.

Hopefully Sparklies Source Found

Between the clutch basket and the water pump area there is a starter gear underneath the starter one way clutch. It is rubbing against the inner aluminum case, which is scoured. I believe it only turns when electric starter is used. Reasonably convinced sparklies are not coming from the clutch or piston. Gman noticed this.

Maybe there is supposed to be a thrust washer between the gear and the case, that got missed on assembly?

No room

Parts diagram at the dealer did not show a thrust washer, and there is no room for one. The gears line up perfectly with each other as is. If a washer was placed behind, the gears would be misaligned. Rocky Mountain oem parts doesn't show a thrust washer either. I was hoping it was a missing washer... cheap fix.
