Southern Utah

Anyone ride around the Duck Creek, Brians Head area? If so how is the riding around there and when do you normally get enough snow to ride?
Whats the terrain like? Trees, steep, etc.?
Thanks,
Jake

Always good snow at Brain Head, you can trailer too and and unload at the ski resort- well actually bout a 1/4 mile past it..and then ride all the great meadows, hollers and hills near Cedar Breaks....just don't ride over the edge ;).....The super steep and deep down south is Beaver Mt.

Cool. Thanks for the info guys. We are planning on heading up that way to ride some. We brought the sleds down from North Idaho this summer, so we will be trying to find some places as close as possible to Vegas to ride. We went over to Duck Creek and camped for a weekend about a month ago to check out the area. It was a really nice place. Can't wait for the snow to get here.

How's the riding on the other high plateaus such as Boulder Mountain/Escalante, Fishlake/Monroe Mountain, or Bryce Canyon?
Some peak out over 11,000 ft, but do they get enough snow to boondock off trail?

I ditto most all of the comments here so far. Cedar Mtn. has a lot of fun little places to ride and the back side of Brianhead has some fun little climbs. IT doesn't have the steep ad deep like some other places but there are some hidden little gems with awesome views of Cedar Breaks. I live in Cedar City and it is great place with a short drive. BTW, I would like to finally try Beaver Mtn. this year. Where is the best place to unload to find the boondocking a steep areas on the Tuschar region? I have heard of perking near the Big John flat area but i don't know where to go from there. Thanks

Problem with those areas is that most of them are national parks, wilderness areas, and or closed to sledding. Sucks, doesn't it?

Another place to mention is up right hand canyon. Basically you park 5 miles up the canyon and ride past the "C" on the mountain. Continue on that road and you will find tons of places to play. The only down side is the trail riding to get to the meadows and hills. It's not a bad place to spend a day though.

If you want more tips on fun places to ride around Cedar City, let me know.

I've also wondered about Boulder Mountain. Has anyone been up there in the winter? There is some neat terrain up there, but not sure if it gets the snow.

For Beaver, just unload at big john flat and head north. Watch for rocks up high! There is also some really dangerous avy terrain in spots, probably some of the biggest slide paths I've seen in Utah. Its a long drive from any major city.
